For you Marshall Co. boys, Howard Gibson is grinding sausage again. He's got some hogs out of Iowa (Herefordshire??) and he told me it was best quality of meat he'd ever had. I had some last night and I'd have to agree. The backstory for y'all that don't know is he raises the hogs and grinds the sausage right there on the farm. He's over 80 now, retired for 3 years, couldn't stand it and started back. If you want to try it, don't wait too long. You never know when a man gets that age. Always reminds me of hunting when I get it cause dad used to buy a bunch for the annual trip to Virginia.

His sausage and BBQ were damn good!! I remember this 1st time I went by there to try his BBQ. He asked me what I wanted and I told him it was a hard choice. He gave me a "Sample" plate with about 2lbs of chicken, pulled pork and ribs. To this day, it's the best BBQ I've ever had. I spent way to much money at that place back in the day.

If it's the Union Grove Gibson's, the gas station down the road sells biscuits with his sausage in it (I retyped this 10 times and never did find a better way to say it). Anyway, best biscuits I've ever had. The ham, egg, and cheese is awesome.

Union Grove Rd, Union Grove AL. He's got a sign in yard. The retail building is behind the house.

Anyway, best biscuits I've ever had. The ham, egg, and cheese is awesome. The gas station biscuits aren't Gibsons sausage. I've bought their sausage, to fry at home a few times, and it's frozen patties from a cardboard box. On a different note, I've lived within rock throwing distance from Gibsons for almost 40 years, and the senile old bastard won't get a dime of my money. There are legitimate reasons, and many in the community share the same opinion. If you visit to buy sausage, be careful what you say and do while there. You may walk out of the place a thief. I'll leave it at that.

This was several years ago though and that gas station may be under new ownership.

They retired and it was closed for a few years before the current owners bought it. That was probably 7-8 years ago. The previous owners didn't serve food. The current owners remodeled the store when they bought it and added the deli.

I don't know, maybe I'm losing my mind and I actually bought it at their farm.

I haven't ever been one to hold much back. I wouldn't exactly call myself an innocent angel. I've been a lot of things, but I can assure you a thief isn't one of them, nor has anyone in my family ever been. You don't have much room to talk, with a brother named Chucky!
