I'm thinking about buying a full sized 9mm. Why? I have no idea other than I want one to take when I go walk about in the woods by the cabin, and for shooting at the range, take when I'm hunting, etc... I don't have a full sized pistol only pocket 9mm and .380 pistols and .22s.

I've kind of boiled it down to these two. Both have good reviews. The Canik comes with 2 mags and a pretty neat holster. It's made in Turkey, but has glowing reviews all over the internet.

The Diamondback has great reviews also, is made in the USA and I have the smaller DB9 pistol as my daily carry, so I'm kind of leaning toward the DB9FS. It's got great reviews also and is about 7 oz lighter than the Canik. But no holster and only one mag.

Does anyone have either one of these pistols?

All I'll say about the Canik is do a lot of research about it in the different models. From what I've seen one model isn't so reliable and one may be unsafe.I don't even remember which ones, just that when I was looking at them I saw enough that I decided not to get one.I'm sort of a gun snob though, so I would just save a little more and buy a Glock,Springfield,H&K,or a Sig. Think of it like cheap whisky VS the good stuff, but with the gun,you never run out.

What RH said...If I remember correctly the SA verison was teh one with problems, but don't quote me on that. The Yankee Marshall has reviewed both on You Tube, you may want to look him up

I've got a Canik TP9SF. I've only put between 4-500 rounds through it. I like it so far. The only problem I've had was from bad ammo. I got some bulk Remington UMC ammo and it would stove pipe and then not fully eject shell. I was scared it was a problem with the pistol but I've had same problem out of my HK VP9, S&W Shield and a Springfield XDM with that ammo.

I had a buddy buy the desert tan TP9SF at the same time and he hasn't had any problems out of his either.
