Saw a Remington 887 pump .12 at Quik Pawn, just off I-65 on Cottage Hill Road in Mobile. They had it marked down to $220 which seemed cheap to me. DID NOT handle it so no further info available. Give them a call (251) 665-5144

Also had a decent looking Beretta A-12 (?) for like $400. Gun looked ok but I didn't know anything about that model. Looked awfully nice for a $400 pawn shop shotgun.

ALSO had a Ruger M77 in 7x57 with a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x50 but the gun and scope had been used hard. They had gun marked $499 and marked down to $399 and likely would have taken less. I'd have been interested but I couldn't remember WHEN I've seen ammo in that caliber, besides a gun show.

I look at guns in Pawn Shops all the time but RARELY see anything I'd buy. Saw three here that seemed like decent deals so I thought I'd pass them along.

Offer $500 for both and act like you're walking out. Not sure how "hard" the Ruger combo is but some $ making potential there.

That x50 Leupold is prob at least $200 as long as the glass isn't scratched.

I bet someone on here would give you some extra cash if you'd pick that Ruger up for em.

Oh I'd be glad to go get the Ruger for somebody. Trouble is I'm no gunsmith and couldn't look at the chamber to know if it's shot out, or whatever else could ail it. Be glad to stop and get good pics when I go by there, but I imagine all that interest would cause any bargaining to evaporate.

I figured the scope was $250 even scratched. I'm betting $300 would buy it all, $350 for sure. Can ammo for that be found? It looked like a short action round to me. Gun didn't look great but wasn't horrible. Just looked like it had ridden in a truck behind the seat a lot. A good cleaning would likely do it wonders.

Little bit I've read said that 7x57 was also called a 7mm Mauser. Having owned a .243 WSSM rifle and a .45 GAP pistol has made me a little gun shy (no pun intended) on odd ball calibers.

Had a cousin who had one. It's a whitetail masher akin to a 7-08.

Googled the ammo. Midway and Sportsman's Guide got it. While not common as 30-06 ammo, I don't think it's hard to find as some of the short mags.

7x57 ammo is readily available just not on most stores.

You can order it online.

That is a hunting rifle in not a super caliber.
When averaged out over the age of the rifle, I'm fairly certain that rifle has seen less than 1rd per year.

If it was something super hot like 6.5-300Wby cause for concern is warranted.

I have two 7x57 rifles built from Yugoslavian M24/48 actions. The round is virtually identical to the 7mm-08 in ballistics. Problem is factory ammo is loaded weak for old small ring Mausers still out there. Hornady Superformance is the exception with a load approaching the round's potential. If you want its full capability you have to hand load.

Oh yeah, and the 887s are subject to a recall, so not worth the trouble.

Our oldest boy has an old 7mm Mauser that's been turned into a sporter. I'm not sure where he gets it, but he doesn't seem to have problems finding ammo.

OOOps! Sorry. Tried to reply to quote. I have a 7x57. Similar to 7mm08. Great hunting rifle with no kick. Shot numerous deer and hogs with great results using Remington core lokts. Academy always has them in stock.
