Does "person pays an annual licensing fee" mean a hunter pays to be able to hunt over a feeder, or is the feeder licensed to be hunted over by any normally licensed hunter? Sounds to me like they want to increase license fees for everyone by $15.

That is what I understand. A $15 fee required per feeder. If that is what its about then call it the Moultrie Feeder license law - total bs.

I had to deal with it many years ago while I was in TX going to college.
Folks would put feeders out and claim that those areas were off limits to the rest of the members. All the good spots got claimed by the officers and the new members simply got screwed.
Just more drama and expense.
Many will stop planting food plots thus reducing the available food for many animals not just deer and turkey.
For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would want baiting.

I am sick of the idiot rednecks in the legislature who cannot kill a deer without hunting over a pile of corn always trying to get it legalized. Where are the sane folks in the legislature who will just bitch slap those stupid rednecks and say no to all this crap?
Meanwhile, prisons are over crowded, Medicaid is bankrupt, blacks have 75% of their kids out of wedlock and whites 30% both of which are totally destroying the social fabric of society not to mention the schools, illegals are everywhere taking jobs and reducing wages, Crips and Bloods everywhere, many public schools are crap, and the only thing these guys are fighting for is hunting over corn piles?????????

that bill says something about legalizing bait but "that it must be contained" !!!! Wow, sounds like they want to sell a lot of Dan Moultrie feeders in Alabama, totally stupid. So they want gamewardens to walk around to see if feeders have a license tag like a car or boat and ticket folks who don't have the license tag on the Moultrie feeder??? Wow, and I guess ticket the guy who skips the feeder and just dumps out a pile in one spot? DUMB. Gonna have constitutional problems with that - feeder ok with license and dump out of bag of corn on ground not ok.

When this first came up years ago a GW friend of mine told me that he would not write any tickets for not having a permit on a feeder because he felt like that was just something to benefit the rich hunters at the detriment of the poor or regular guys.
It would be nice if they all felt that way.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I think I'd be in favor of that...It's awful what I spend in sales tax on groceries in a month! Good Lord, you got that right. Our grocery bills run about $1200 a month. At 8%, I'm paying $100/month in TAXES on my groceries. $1200 a year! Taking that into consideration, the state portion would be $600/year, so they'd need to sell 40 feeder permits just to make up for the lost revenue on my one grocery bill. If the grocery tax repeal passes, you'd better expect to pay more on car tags, property taxes, stuff like this, etc and I GUARANTEE you they will end up with MORE revenues, not less, when the dust settles.

It would be nice if they all felt that way. I can see that. I don't know if I would want to keep one single feeder going all season long just from the expense. Or multiple feeders for that matter.

For those of you that are complaining about sales tax on groceries and the fee on deer feeders, please understand that sales taxes on groceries go to the Education Trust Fund. I would expect any fees associated with deer feeders to go to the DCNR.
I seriously doubt they will earmark deer feeder fees to the ETF. It would not touch the amount lost of sales taxes on groceries were removed.
Just trying to explain.

And I am pretty certain EBSCO owns Moutrie and had for some time. For many years. Some folks on here don't pay attention, though.

For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would want baiting. Texas Deer herd would not be where it is today if not for Supplemental feeding..
