Stuff I've read every lineman is an eligible receiver, got to pick up 15 yds instead of 10 for 1st down and QB can't run past line of scrimmage. Tends to be high scoring game.

From what I've been reading with all the talk about concussions and brain damage in football... All of football may be going toward less players on the field (7 maybe?), no one down in a 3 point stance, possibly doing away with helmets and a playing on a much smaller field. All this in an attempt to reduce injuries.

I'll bet it's coming...
Never gonna happen. Football is a multi billion dollar industry, and the powers at be won't let that happen. Continuance of teaching proper tackling technique is definitely needed, but I believe the injuries are becoming less common.

It may not ever happen in high school, but there will clearly be changes to the youth sport. Already have had lots of changes. But if you think money plays a role in football sticking around, there's probably just as much money at stake in litigation for brain injuries sustained while kids play football (at least the fear of litigation).

Meadowview Christian here in Selma plays 8 man and plays 6 man to in order to play some schools. They can't field an 11 man team anymore, but their coach, Lebo Jones is trying to work them back up to that. At one time they were a powerhouse AISA team that dominated everyone. I've talked with Lebo about it, but have never watched them play.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

My experience around here is that the kids who are playing flag football are the ones that wouldn't have been playing football at all before. Numbers in tackle football participation, at least around suburban Birmingham, are the same or higher.
Football is loosing more kids to lacrosse. Which has nothing to do with brain injuries, unless is is idiot parents who don't know statistics on injuries.

Auburn has been playing it for years....nobody has told Gus that he could have 11 actual playmakers on the field at any given time

Victory Baptist in Millbrook plays 6 man and has won 3 of 4 State championships. Have watched several games. High scoring on average, players better be in shape ( more field to cover ), SPEED is your friend in 6 man. 15 yds for a first down, QB can only run once another player has touched it, i.e. QB hands off and then player laterals back to QB. Fully equipped players just like 11 man, can be hard hitting, BUT it is not everyone's cup of tea. Mainly used for schools who have trouble fielding enough players for 11 man.

I remember when Meadowview was a power house team. Seems like they had two brothers playing that were studs and seems like one or both played at Auburn.

Shayne Wasden played at AU and had the winning catch vs. FL one year. "Slack to Wasden" Got into coaching and was the OC at Troy. Was considered for HC, but when they gave it to Brown, Shayne retired.
Tommy played at Troy and had a very good career there. He coached after college but I don't know where he is now. Their Dad, Bobby, played on the 57 AU Nat. Champ. team and was the coach and Headmaster at Meadowview in their Heydays.

Wasden is opening up some carwashes here in Montgomery. Seems like a really nice guy. Have talked to him several times.

Montgomery public schools is losing a lot of them because its more popular to be in the band. which blows my mind.
