Last day of the season. Back in the same area as yesterday, I backed up the slough about 75 yards, so all the deer will be running around my old tree. Beautiful morning in the woods, good luck and stay safe.

Finally got one today on the last day. Just a doe, but with the luck I've had, I appreciate her.

Saw one doe at 10:00. Lunch break then after em for the last sit of the year.

An all day sit!

Came to spot I haven't hunted all year. White oaks mixed in the thick stuff, slough a hundred yards away that joins the river, a slough cutoff from the river directly deigns me about 50 yards. Already had a truck pass by honking his horn, wishing me luck. There's a boat in need of repair on the main slough, I can hear the fishermen troubleshooting the motor issues. After 3 long hours of listening to a boat motor being worked on, they got it fixed and headed out of the slough. Just in time for the deer to start roaming around me.

I got blanked!

Nothing this afternoon but squirrels, bass boats, and trucks. I had a good season and it was nice afternoon to sit the tree and relax. I killed two 7 pts and got to take my 10 yo hunting with me this year, he killed 2 deer. Watching him and sitting with him was the most fun I've hunting in ages, I look forward to more stand time next year. For now the bass and crappie are biting, time to start running the river.

Stuck a doe about 15 minutes before dark. Had blood for about 150 yrds and lost it in thick pines. Sick at myself. Waited all year for this opportunity, and blew it.

Go back tomorrow and look...it's not over yet.

I looked until about 930 last night. Had 2 other members helping look. Was weird trail. Pass thru shot at 28 yrds. Atrow covered in bright blood. Hardly any blood going down road from field. Almost appears to be like blood out of nose, but sparse. Followed for about 100 yards, then only finding blood on trees deer rubbed against small pines. Not finding any drips on ground. Have killed several with a bow, but this trail was weird, pass through with scant blood trail. Have had trails without pass through be sparse, but never on pass through. Usually 100 yards or less, at a steady walk.

I shot her about 4 yards after she crossed the ditch, she rared up and fell backwards and never moved again. If you look closely, you can see my arrow sticking up out of her front right shoulder area. I swapped to Rages this season and they produced 4 for 4. Think I will stick with them.
