I just drove back from Little Rock yesterday, there were ducks every where. Saw two huge groups (thousands) of snows. There were a couple flooded ag fields that had ducks every 5 ft on it in any direction.

We had a blast, killed 18 snows, 12 blues, and 1 spec OOPS between 6 of us. 5 birds go home with each of us. Can't wait for a good goose dinner. I shot 14 shells and hit 8 birds. Of course most of them were hit by two or more of us. Early on we had wave upon wave come in and flare we believe because of an unruly Labrador. Once we figured that out we had to settle for singles and small groups. All in all a fantastic hunt!

Very cool. Lot of decoys to pick up put out.

Not being 'that guy' but I'd space those decoys out a little more next time.

When geese are on the ground feeding and relaxed, they are spread out more, and usually in little family groups (4-6 here, 4-6 there, etc).

They will usually crowd closer together when they sense a threat or feel nervous.

Space those socks out a little more, and maybe some of those big groups will swing in a little closer

Eta: nice hunt!

I would agree about spacing them out but not in family groups. Snow geese are not Canadian geese. They are very active feeders, a lot of times trying to get to the front of the pack as they feed.

About all I hunt are geese.
Some things I see...
1. Camo hats with white suits
2. Black dog which is stated a problem.
3. need a hole in the middle of your snow spread
4. need to be close to downwind or corner of spread
5. snows love motion decoys...don't see any
6. spread seems wide as in across the wind...make it up and down wind so they can side slide on you
7. It seems cloudy which is always an issue especially if no wind
8. Were you with an outfitter?
8. Oops I killed a **** out of season in print! Way too much info..
Glad ya'll got on some. They are going to be gone early this year...some late March hunts are going to be duds or worse

That's what I was gonna say. Every time I've seen snows on a feed field there has been thousands ain't no groups of 4.

We killed 100 or so yesterday. Still a lot of geese around..... even with the warm temperatures. I hunted them fairly often when I was younger..... It's work to do it now

Did you get the 100 in Blinds or ditch crawling?

Great job saving the tundra. Wish you would of killed a thousand.

Don't listen to these goobers and their criticism. They are all just mad jealous that they weren't there....as am I.

Awesome! I'd love to go shoot some snows, sometime. Had it worked out with a buddy from Texas a few years ago...I had a class in Houston, took all my stuff with me, and was to drive up to his place after the class was done and spend a couple days shooting snows. Turned out the last day of the class, they were rushing through everything because the weather was supposed to get seriously bad and they were trying to get us moving back towards home before it hit. Then one of the kids, back home, got real sick, so we just decided to scrap the idea and head back.

Flocks continually leapfrogging each other and one reason lots of motion works. I've never hunted the special season but have had a few other regular season hunts. It can get miserable when it's muddy but the shooting makes up for it. Nothing like thousands of birds trying to land on top of you as they funnel down.

Looks like a good time thumbup

Bet that's something to see! There're 2 Canadas that fly over my house real low each morning...I hear them honking a little while before I see them. I think they're coming off of my Dad's pond. I keep some Muscovies there, and my Mom puts out corn and feed for them. Draws in some woodies now and again, so an errant pair of Canadas well outside of the flyway isn't beyond the imagination, I suppose.

It's pretty incredible watching them work and come in. Not my first rodeo but I still get excited seeing them

Buddy has been in South Dakota chasing 'em around for the last week. They haven't had much luck. The snow and single digit temps pushed a lot of birds out I guess.
