I have received my soil sample results and most are in the ph range of 5.3-6.7, however I have one that is 7.8. I have planted it several years now and it never does well. It is the highest PH I have.
Anyone have a recommendation for a summer crop that likes that range, and also something that hopefully will drop it a little??

Lime the snot out of the low pH stuff and plant soybeans. You said the former guy never sprayed the fields. Even though they were hay fields your gonna have one more incredible amount of weed seed to fight. Glyphosate is your friend. No way I'd suggest planting anything other than a RR crop for several years. When you disturb the soil, your going to open it up to all those dormant weed seeds.

I know heavy doses of nitrogen drop ph, but it may take a while. The perfect ph is 7, so don't lime it and use heavy nitrogen for a year and recheck. I wouldn't have thought a 7.8 ph would have been too high for stuff to grow.

How long does it take for the sulfur to work? Is it a long time like lime? When should I put it out?
