I bought 2 boxes of 308 and 2 boxes of 7mag 150gr core lokts. Shot my rifles and neither is grouping worth a sh.. These guns have always shot core lokt's really good till now. I got to looking at the shells and seen some of the bullets are not pressed all the way in the casing. Ive never paid attention before to see if they have always been like this. Have any of you seen this before?

They are always like that. Looks like a light perforation just outside the casing around the bullet. I was told that is what makes them "core lokt". May have been misinformed but it sounded reasonable to me.

Think your describing a loose crimp on bullet.

Only hits count.

It's possible to get a bad batch. See if remington will make them good. They are very good rounds. Some people trash them but I've killed many deer with them and never had a problem with grouping.

I haven't bought any in forever so my opinion is worthless on the matter.

They all have a crimp. I don't no how to post pics or i would. Its like they wasn't seated all the way and some was. There a little lines going up and down on the bullet. Some are pushed all the way down to the casing and some are sticking out further. No clue but its strang 2 rifles just up and stopped shooting good with them.

When I bought my 7 mag I tried sighting it in with core-lokts and the best I could get it to shoot was about the size of a paper plate at 100 yards. Started handloading 140 accubonds and my grouping problems went away.

Idk where you bought those coreloks from of course but Ive been told the coreloks you buy from Walmart (and other brands of bullets) are not the same quality shells that youll buy from other places. I dont know how true that is, and it dont make a whole lot of sense to me but like I said thats what I was told, may or may not be some truth behind it

My REM 700 7Mag doesn't group well with the corelok. I'm sure others have had better luck...Shooting Hornady whitetail 139 grain now with great grouping at 100yards

Yeah I've been told that WM negotiates with whomever to make item according to WM specs thereby making them cheaper and beating most everyone on price

Ah ok - sounds like something Walmart would do -I just really dont understand why these companies would jeopardize their reputation for that.

I have shot core lokts for years, about 3 years ago my stash ran out of 243's bought 3 boxes. Accuracy tanked. Tanked bad. Switched to federals, no issue. Bought my son a 243, started with core lokts. Accuracy sucked. Went to federal did fine. Sadly I'm done with them once I shoot through my old inventory for my other rifles. Apparently 3 or so years ago something changed. Sadly I will never go back.

Been a long, long time (25 years?) since I've shot any Corelokts in a rifle, but maybe 3 or 4 years ago I bought some crazy expensive Remington Premier Corelokt shotgun slugs....like $23.99/box. They wouldn't shoot worth a turd either, they were really erratic at 100yds. I noticed the slug in some of them would rattle if you shook it.

My Dad and I have shot Core Lokt's for 20 years in our rifles and never had an issue with accuracy. Y'all have began to make me a little bit scared of them lol

Someone recently told me that Remington would not be manufacturing Core Lokt's any longer. Does anyone know if this is true???

When picking up brass at the range, I routinely see misfired core lokts laying around. Don't seem to notice that much with other brands, but have seen it a bunch of times with these.

I used to shoot them and the bullet itself performed well, but quit after noticing this and having a couple misfire myself.

Only round I've ever experienced a misfire with, that' was the first year I ever hunted. All the money we spend on this hobby, an extra 50 cents to a dollar for one of the few things that absolutely has to do its job to accomplish our goal seems pretty petty. I know they've killed piles of a deer, but no one shoots their deer rifle enough to ever see a financial impact from spending an extra $10-$15 on a box of rounds.

These core lokt's was bought at field and stream. Ive shot them all my life with no problems and killed a pile of deer till now. I bought a new tikka the other day and bought hornady sst 165gr and its shooting about 2inch groups witch im not happy with. But idk witch ammo to go with now. Core lokt's have got me worried. Maybe i should just start loading my own.

Only bullet I've used the last 30 yrs is core lokt. Never one complaint by me.
