I'm looking for a new semiauto turkey gun and it can be a 12ga or 20ga. Price isn't too much of a concern lets say $1500 tops
Anyone have a suggestions

Franchi Affinity 20 gauge. It outshoots my better-half's Benelli M2.

I'd buy a $300 870 compact and spend a little money dressing it up, then spend the rest on TSS and components. You'll be set for a while

Can't use a pumpgun too well I have nerve damage in my arm so I need the ability for a quick follow up shot if that need arises

For that kind of money, I'd buy a nice o/u 20 gauge, send it off to a good gunsmith to have it worked over, cerakote it, and buy tss and components.

Look at the Winchester Long Beard edition. For the last two seasons I've used a 12ga with the pistol grip. You can get it in 12 or 20. It has 3 comb and 3 length of pull adjustments. The trigger is MUCH better than the 1187 it replaced. It has a cantilever barrel for mounting a red dot or scope. I love it and it's in the price range you mentioned.

Got an 870 pump a couple years ago, but I'm going back to my semi-auto Stoeger M2000 12ga w/blended shells this year; just a tried & true formula for me...

I run a .585 Carlson flush turkey choke and 15/8 oz of tss #9 out of my 26" SX3 20 ga. Also had to drill and tap for 336 mount and put a Vortex Venom reddot, center of pattern was 1-2' high at 40yds with my turkey loads.

Everything I read is stating 562 to 570 using the Federal HWT #7s.

SumToy chokes sells the .562 and will recommend the amount of rings on the choke, depending on shell shot. SumToy chokes

The Puregold Tempest is a .570 choke
Pure Gold chokes

Many people write having good luck with the Primos Tightwad chokes with the SX3. It's a fairly inexpensive choke.

Carlsons .585 flush choke does well with TSS.

A lot of the chokes you have to buy for the Browning, as from what I can tell, the Invector Plus choke tube system is the same for both guns.

I'm very interested to see if you find a better choke. The factory turkey choke on my 12ga SX3 works great. I've been happy with it's performance so I haven't looked for an improvement. Please send me a PM and let me know what you discover. I did get a Trulock buckshot choke for hog hunting. It has been very impressive and has me wanting to try one of their turkey chokes.

Are going to use an optic or the open sights?
