Got all excited about going duck hunting.
Bought the stamps and shells and all and hadn't been.
This has been the pattern for a few years now.

I have been known to do similar things. Not with ducks but other things we hunt. At the very least - you were ready!

Went a total of two times this year and our group killed 17 the first and 24 the second time. I've got to where I don't even wont to fool with going to the lake.

Ends this weekend.
I don't have much duck stuff so I have to tag along with a buddy. Doubt it happens for me. Weather going to be too good for deer this weekend.

First time in probably 13 years I didn't go. Losing Cooper kinda took the fire out of it for me this year. Maybe next year...

I've bought the stamps the past 3 years for the sole purpose of shooting that flock of geese that lives on my pond during the off season but disappears when the season is in. I've never seen them during the season.

So this year I decided to wait until I actually see them on the pond, then buy the stamps online, and only then will I plan my stalk. They never showed, so I saved my money. But someday I am gonna catch them there and there will be a massacre. smile

our camp total is below 20 this year (south of hwy 82 mid-Delta). dry late-fall, early-winter months haven't been kind to us in the last few years...a.k.a. plowed and rowed fields all around, instead of debris and food laden post harvest fields, per the usual.
ma nature's mood will change and give us a few good years in return. good thing is that it is thinning the duck commander herd out!!

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Sunflower/Leflore County...I can't imagine the speck hunting getting any better than it is! I guess they could raise the limit again? We quit duck hunting period. Too much heartache and disappointment and expense! The duck hunting in the Ag area of the Delta will NEVER...repeat NEVER... be the same. No food...no water...no ducks! The farming practice of bedding ground in the fall after harvest and not letting any water sit on farm ground due to yield loss has become ingrained in the MS Delta farming practices. With farm leases for land formed ground at $175/acre and profit margins becoming smaller, that 10 bushels/acre yield loss is meaningful. To increase habitat acreage, The triangle area in the 49E/49W/N of 82 even had a program tagged to it for $35/acre to farmers who flood through the winter...very low acceptance except for those few farmers who already leased to duck hunters.

I got 2 bids for my federal stamp on eBay so I'm gonna get a little of it back.

Get with me next year, I'll be living in Marshall county with quite a bit of private water access. We'll knock a few down.

Did that a couple years ago....bought a stamp and shells, found a few dozen decoys cheap on craigslist. Even bought some waders. had planned on going with a buddy in MS and it just never worked out. it's been 6 or 7 years now since I got the itch to go duck hunting and I still haven't been yet. It's tough to get into if you don't have any friends/family [nearby] that are into it.

Didn't even buy mine this year. It was the first time in probably 15 years that I didn't duck hunt.
