I just hate that they charge to get in. It should be free.
Y'all realize that renting a facility to put on a boat show or outdoors expo costs money? Even if the show promoter charges the vendors they still are trying to make some profit and, typically, do not get any of the concession or parking money. So their two means of revenue are charging attendees and vendors. Lop off the rental costs, publicity (which is why they "partner" with local media, but that often costs money), insurance, etc., it's not like the show promoters are becoming Scrooge McDuck rolling in gold coins. They make profit but not truckloads.

They make profit but not truckloads. Clem, very poorly managed shows charge attendees. Every large scale show I've ever worked, the vendors are covering all the costs for the attendees. I mean the goal of the show is to show off new products and "Hope" that you generate more sales. That being said, I don't work in the outdoor industry so it may be different...though it shouldn't be.

I've been going to shows since 1992 and don't remember free admission, although I'm sure back 25 years ago maybe there were some. But the ones I can remember in H'sv, B'ham, Nashville, Atlanta and elsewhere had an admission fee. I guess all of them were poorly managed.

Like I said, I'm not in the outdoor industry and it looks like they operate differently. Even the Shot Show, it looks like, charges entrance fees.
