The thought isn't the crime. The expression of it indicates planning at some level no matter how vague or formless. Regardless of how serious or flippant her statement was it should be checked out.

It is extremely unlikely she will be prosecuted but harassing her for the purpose of a show of force isn't unusual. Just ask conservative non profit organizers how the IRS works.

I havent a clue what constitutes a threat against the President, however, the Secret Service announced it is opening a investigation on Madonna's comments. I do know if you board a plane and say "I thought about blowing up this plane" , your ass will be hauled out, even though you never made any direct threat to blow the plan up, you just shared a thought.

I do know this, the new attorney general ain't gonna put up with what's been allowed for the last eight years. And I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing all the prosecutions that occur via Jeff Sessons.

Left wingnuts make stupid statements all the time, they don't mean anything...How many asserted they were going to leave the country if Trump was elected? How many actually left? Rosie O'Pig suggested that Trump should be arrested (didn't say what for...) and that we should have an interim President...what did that mean?...nothing.

If Madonna had said "...I'm going to..." or even "...I want to..." then that could (and would, I assure you) be construed as a threat. If she had said "...you guys help me figure out a way to..." not only would that have been a threat, but Conspiracy to Commit... could be added to the list. But "...I've thought about..." That's not a threat, and I'd just as soon not see someone prosecuted for their thoughts...even someone as stupid and wrong as a left wingnut.
