purdy

other side with bunks

one of them piebald's

nice place to sit and warm your bones if'n you could get to it with all the boots drying

chit-chat or tall tale telling

supper was the fish fry and it was catfish, cole slaw, french fries and all the de-serts you could imagine (home-made stuff to include apple pie, brownie dream pie, several batches of cookies, cobblers and more stuff that i don't remember). the fish came from the pond on the property. there was plenty of ketchup and tartar sauce to go along with it. they had chicken tenders for those that wanted them and there was leftover barbeque and chili i do believe. another time not to go hungry.

if you can find the time to go to this hunt, it's for a good
cause and they'll do everything they can to get you in a good location. they'll definitely keep you fed and laughing with the jokes and stories. folks up there were very kind and hospitable!

Good pictures and story. Do you have any idea how many hunters were at the hunt or how many deer were killed? It is a great way for schools to get some much needed money, I guess it is an academy school that is supported by parents.

We had 20 people attend , 18 hunters. We had a large group that had a conflict that weekend and some of our regulars had conflicts as well. Weather was tough with sleet one day and wind howling the next but we ended up with 3 bucks and 5 does killed with another buck miss. If everything goes as planned , we will have our entire hunt at the lodge we met at Saturday night. The lodge can sleep 25 and they also gave a totally remodeled house that will sleep 10 that the owner told me we could have next year. We are going to cap it off next year at either 30 or 35. I will be sending out flyers and posting it on AL deer .com as soon as we figure out next year's date. There were some people that passed on some deer as well.

Most of the school hunts are Academy hunts, but Gordo is a public school but we have to fundraise to support our band . Our football team normally goes deep in the playoffs every year so traveling expenses in itself is a big hurdle .
