Anyone using these? If so, what are the pros and cons? Thinking about buying one to stick in a hardwood bottom.

I use them regularly in the woods generally to see daytime deer movement. If they move at night I really don't care. The one's I have image quality is poor due to very small file size, but like I said I am watching for movement not identifying a particular deer.

I have been running one for about 4 years now. The batteries last a long time. IMO they are best for open areas, I hunt row crop land so it does a great job of helping me find where the deer are entering the fields. When set up in woods it is harder to see deer movement due to the shadows moving and leaves falling. The resolution is ok but don't expect to count points if the deer is over 50 yards away. Here are couple of pics to give you an idea.

In this pic I had the plotwatcher about 200 yards away, once I found where the deer were entering the field I moved the camera closer. When reviewing the pics it plays like a video using the software provided. At the highest speed it takes about 2-3 minutes to watch an entire day. Hope this helps.

I thought long and hard and got a Browning Strike Force instead. Has the plot watcher feature (with good software) and can be used as a regular trail cam. Browning is cheaper by like $50 too (at least on sale).

Using price as the determining factor on shoot or not to shoot will leave you holding the bag everytime.

Mid range priced trail cameras are all basically the same. Mid range priced trail cameras just throw in different gizmos to compete against what the other doesn't have and then they lack one thing as well.

All a sales gimmick.

4 - Reconyx SC950's
1 - Reconyx XR6 Ultra Fire
4 - Homebrew Units

**Don't waste $$ on those midrange priced cameras**

I love mine but the only thing I hated about it is showing you the deer in daylight where I wasn't hunting. I would strap on a shooting house leg to see what was coming in the plot and most of the I would get out of the stand around 10 and have bucks on camera from 10:30 to 2:00

Two years ago I got the Primos Plotwatchers on sale at Dicks for like 70% off of clearance. I think they ended up being 7.00 a piece. Bought 4 of them, i like them. I had no food plots up until about 3 weeks ago so i may need to start using them again this year. Be sure and put you a decent size SD card in them, they will take some pictures. I think that I had mine set to take a picture every 5 minutes. That may have been a little overkill but caught a lot of action on the fields.

We run several of the plotwatcher pro's and love them. It allows you to basically "sit" in one spot all day and see the activity. Ours will run about 20-25 days before the batteries die using the best resolution and 5 second picture intervals.

You're not understanding. I actually own the Browning strike force cams and the plot watcher feature is not a gimmick. It's legit and has really good software that's free to go with it. Plus it's a regular trail cam too if you want....and it's still cheaper.

Alan, mine will go at least a month on a fresh set of duracells, I have had a 32gb card fill up before the batteries die. That was probably about a six week run during post season.

The PlotWatcher video feature that is available on some other cameras is legit and pretty cool. I have some PW cameras along with Stealth and Browning. All have done well and have been in the woods for 2+ years through all conditions.
