Samick Sage is the best cheapest recurve. I don't know much about the Sage longbow.
The best recurve would be the tradtech Titan II and a set of ILF wood, carbon limbs.
I list it as best because it would give you the ability to use the best limbs in the world in any weight, allow you to set your own tiller, and give you about 10% weight adjustment to fine tune arrows. It would also be quite pricey for someone just starting out.
The Sage is your best bet but I just didn't want you to be steered into a bow similarly priced to the Trad Tech without considering it's advantages.

You guys should try to go to some of the trad only shoots at Tannehill this year. They usually run over 2-3 days and you can camp on the site if you want. The first one is sometime in Feb. I'll try to remember to post the date here in the archery forum. Those are a lot of fun. I like to go cruise the bows for sale. You can run across some real good deals on Black Widows.
I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. Theres a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts. Ronald Reagan

This is the link for the Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen -- http://astb.net/They put on the trad shoot at Tannehill and also have others during the summer. Good organization for trad archers and such. The website isn't updated so I don't know about dates for the 2017 events. Possibly could email them to find out.

Terry does one in Feb, and a couple later on at Tannehill. Most of ASTBs shoots are at Brierfield Park.

everything used to be at Tannehill, then ASTB moved all their shoots to Brierfield about 4-5 years ago.
Terry holds 2-3 shoots at Tannehill every year. Spring Fling in Feb and Howard Hill later on.

Speaking of ASTB and trad bows, I saw on Facebook where former ASTB president Philip Alexander died a few days ago. This is his obit from the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

Funeral Service: Friday Dec. 30, 2016 2:00pm Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Phenix City, AL , visitation Thursday 6:00pm to 8:00pm, burial Lakeview Memory Gardens.
