That's correct, that stuff is so hard you can't cut it.

Just from what I've read, If Rob Roberts said it can't be done, I'd take that as the gospel. I don't think you'll find anyone who has worked on more Benellis.
However, you may want to call him back and pose the 2nd part of your question to him. Ask him if it would be possible to get a new custom 21" barrel made for your gun, without the Crio lining. He may have the connections to make it happen.

A metabo disk will take care of it for you.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

Agree. Can't is relative. Doesn't want to try is more accurate. I thought Crio lining meant Chrome. Likely chip is the issue. But if you're going all out hail just get it re-chrome lined while you're at it... But as also mentioned above you could probably find a non-crio lined barrel and that would solve your problem. 3 inches isn't that much I'd just go 24", yea I'd rather have the 21" too but not for the price of an entirely new gun. You could get an 870 youth model for less than what you are going to pay for the barrel or a 21" 1100 special field or something like that..... Convert either into a Turkey Gun.

I have a $10.00 angle grinder from Harbor Freight that will cut it. The results however would be less than stellar. Heck, you could probably square it up on a belt sander, but then you have the problem of threading it. Try finding a carbide tap in the correct size for a Benelli choke tube. If that would even cut it.

As previously said, it can be cut, the problem is that it starts chipping. My buddy had a sbe barrel cut and ported. Granted it's just a dove gun and pattern really is that important but it still shoots and doves still die. The guy that did the work (in kentucky) told him may chip tomorrow, next week, or the next decade. Never asked if he has inspected it. May call him and get him to look

If you were planning on using an extended turkey choke with the shorter barrel, consider this: My 20 gauge M2 with 26" barrel shoots the 3" Federal Heavyweight Number Sevens great with just the factory flush choke (if you consider 180 pellets denser than number five lead inside a ten inch circle at 40 yards to be great). So my point is that with a Benelli 24" barrel with a flush choke you'd have the same total length barrel as a 22" with a 2" choke.
Personally I'm fine with my 26" and find that extra distance between my eye and the bead gives me just a bit more accuracy, while keeping it useful as an all round hunting gun.
Heck I used to hunt with a guy whose main turkey gun was an older Wingmaster with an unribbed extra full fixed choke barrel thirty inches long. Covered up with years and years of nasty looking cloth camo tape. And he stacked up the turkeys with it.
