Whatever it is, it's probably blind now from the intense flash on that camera.

Looks like a panther to me with the rounded ears and nose. I hunt in escambia county Alabama and have had a few panther pics in the last few years. Hard to get pictures of them.

Let's see them. Maybe lost Florida panthers?

With all the people saying that they have pictures of Panthers and such why is it that when aon magazine offered $1000 for proof of a panther in alabama no one came up with any proof?

Back in the mid-late 80's, I was working at Andalusia PD one Sunday morning...early, probably 0630-0700, and I get a call; lady at such-and-such address wants to speak to an officer. So I pull up in front of this house...it's on the edge of town and backed by a large expanse of woods...and this lady tells me that she went out to hang laundry on the line and "my bush growled at me!"

I said "Excuse me?"

and she says come around here. So I followed her into the backyard, and she pointed at an azalea bush, probably 7 or 8 feet across, and said "that one." I started walking towards the bush, and it growled at me, too! I looked around and one of her kids' had left a softball laying in the yard. I picked it up and drilled into the bush, and a cougar jumped out of it. Not a huge cat, as cougars go, and definitely not a black cat...he was maybe 6' tip to tip and a smoky tan color, about 30' away from me, and maybe 45' or so from the lady. He looked at us a couple seconds, then trotted off to the woods. The lady looks at me and says "Was that what I think it was?" I told her "No, ma'am...those don't exist in Alabama." Later that same day, I talked to the state biologist in Andalusia, and he said that it was probably a "lost" Florida panther passing through.
