Doe tags buy purchase only.

1.how would y'all want it to be done. doe days, limit on does or whatever.
2. how long would it take for the population to get back to where it was You do realize most folks still think you can't kill too many does, right?

It's coming in the near future so just hold on boys and you'll get your wishes, probably more of them than you want to.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

The herd is most likely decreasing from the very liberal doe season we have now.
I think three free ones would work ok for most of the state.

Geno the problem is some areas can't handle that many doe harvest. You take a club in walker 3,000 acres and just say 30 members. They would be allowed to kill 90 does on that property. Is that sustainable no and there's a lot who wouldn't shoot a doe but there are still some that have to tag out. I would honestly rather see 2 weeks of doe days again and any club or property needing more killed issued tags like before to harvest them. But opinions are like buttholes and everyone has one.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Can't throw a blanket regulation over the whole state and expect it to work everywhere. Areas of the state or even within 1 county can be drastically different.
Can hunters kill enough does? For Alabama, during the time this was becoming popular in Alabama deer where everywhere and coyotes where just coming on the scene. Take coyotes, bears, car collisions, natural mortality, etc. and ask that again. Can HUNTERS kill enough does? I don't know but it is the lowest hanging fruit (easiest to control) than anything else.
I have one place where the population had decreased drastically and some places where the population is good. All in the same county. The place where the population has decreased there have been very few deer killed in this area in the last 7 years a or so. I'm talking averaging 1 deer about every 2 years. Coyote numbers are doing very well. With the hunters killing less deer and the population still decreasing, how do you turn that around??? Coyote elimination would be the answer but is not feasible to the point it needs to be.

We had doe days when I was a teenager. I guess that mindset is still with me today. I'll try to take one out a season and she is gonna be one of them big floppy ear old nannies that blows so loud when she winds you and for the next thirty minutes so that every deer in the state can hear. I enjoy shooting those old smart ones.

10 years ago you could hunt all season on our place and maybe no see a deer. We went with a strict zero doe policy. Even with tons of coyote and bobcat we have seen a huge increase in numbers. I see at least 10 every time I sit in the woods. We should now be able to shoot the occasional doe for the freezer, but I'm not the club president and don't make the rules. Laying off on the does for a while has certainly seemed to help our population though. That's a great individual club policy, but most folks here want it to control what their neighbors do.
