Hunting Bankhead NF this morning. Back in here where I saw a decent buck a week or so ago. If he comes the way he did that day, I should be sitting pretty.

Hunting Bankhead National Forest. Set up on a big pine ridge. This place is beating me down this year.

JD, I Have a couple questions for you. You seem like you're at Bankhead as much or more than me.
1. What are your personal standards for what you shoot at Bankhead?
2. Were you born in 76 or is that when you started bow hunting?

Born in 76. On what I kill? It just depends what mood I'm in and how close I am to the truck. Most of the time I will shoot 1 1/2 year old does or older and 2 1/2 year or older bucks. 5 year old doe gets me fired up!

I understand that. I'm thinking about investing in one of those game carts. My summit starts hurting my shoulders on longer hikes, so I'm thinking of pulling my stand in on a cart and rolling a deer out on it if needed.

Just saw a deer about 80-100 yards away. Not sure what it was. At one point I thought it was a doe but then I thought I saw antlers

You really need to look into an x stand sit and climb. 12 pounds and it sits high on your back like a back pack. Not the most comfortable but definitely worth the trade off for those long public land marches.

I've considered that too. I like the rail in front of me on the summit. For some reason I feel safer having it. Does the x stand sit and climb rail get in the way for bow hunting?

The Xstand looks portable, in my opinion since you are used to the Summit you might want to look into the Treewalker, I think they are 19lbs and are built similar to the Summit. I've seen videos on the Xstand on YouTube and I don't like all the flex in the bottom platform when the guy stands up from sitting and they are very small. I have zero experience with either stand but I will soon be shopping for another light weight comfortable climber as well. As for now, my Ol Man Carbon Air works fine.

It moves, so it can be anywhere from folded under you and hunt with an open front, to sticking straight up like a gun rest.

The platforms are small, but thy don't start until they are a good ways off the tree. So they feel like the same size when you are standing on them. (Consider how often you use the 6 inches closest to the tree)

As far as the flex. It's not the platform flexing. It's the arms and they are designed to do that. It's incredibly stable with the stabilizer straps that are included.

Certainly not for everyone, but the tree walker, lone wolf, etc aren't even in the same ball park as far as mobility. 7 pounds is a huge weight difference.

I agree with the mobility factor, I guess I would have to climb in the Xstand to see first hand. I would definantly like it only being 12lbs.

Atoler how would you say this X-Stand would work for a bigger guy, say 6-2 260ish?
