Looking for a good club to join within 15-20min drive of Millers Ferry. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

We used to have a cabin on the water at Miller's Ferry. Hunted with the Henderson family. They own most of the land around there and I believe still run a hunting club. Contact S.J. Henderson. I do not have a number for him anymore.

S.J.'s place would definitely be convenient and would love to have the opportunity to join next year if I could in touch with whoever handles the club memberships.

That would be fine with me. For a better than average place with some elbow room you are gonna pay for it. I'm open to any options up to that amount in that area.

Good lord. if I'm paying 6,000 bucks to hunt, I'm gonna go kill something with 300 inches of bone that bugles and weighs 900 lbs,a deer with forked horns that runs funny, and an antelope.

Yeah cmon. Daniel White

If you're willing to pay $6K a year. Look at Gees Bend and some of the big $$clubs up around Portland Landing. For that kind of money you can dang sure find better land than the Hendersons.

We had some fabulous hunting at the Henderson's years ago. I saw a picture of a 157bc that was killed there last year.

Abolt300, the problem I run into is knowing the people to talk with about these clubs.

At one time Gees Bend had a facebook page for the club. You might could contact them through that if it's still up and running.

Gees bend is by invite/ family only.

Hendersons club has a lot of deer, but they don't have much for size, honestly. Someone said something about a 157 that came off their place last year, but I didn't hear about it 9which seems odd to me), but if it did legitimately come from there, then it's the biggest one in the past 10 years.
It's not worth 6k imo.

SJ isn't hard to find. Just look for beige chevy 1500 with Auburn plates. he's on the roads constantly between his house and the Marina.

That's just begging to get abused. Guest every trip = $1,750 a piece and 2 guys split the membership. Now you're at 10 members.

And that's a lot of food plots for 2400 acres, about 50% too many if you ask me.

Too many give the deer too many options and make it harder for me to pick which one to sit on. As I get older I like my deer hunting to be non-stressful and decision making stresses me.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

With Kansas, I understand what you're saying but it's a little more than going to shoot a good deer for me. It's nice to have a place close to be able to get away from work for a couple days at a time and be able to take the family along.

That limitation would dang sure create some large membership numbers in some large property clubs.

You're probably right but something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I've always said that there ain't a truck worth 70K but damn if someone ain't buying them. The factories can't make 'em fast enough.

Gee's Bends FB page looks like a big party club.
They don't update it much.

Lotta old Mobile and Baldwin county money there and while they have a good time, they kill studs and are very selective on what gets shot for the most part. Great land, great genetics, low pressure, no clue on what the dues are. I had heard at one time it was incorporated and you had to buy stock to join.

Stock to join? I've heard that term flung around before, but I Wonder how that works when folks don't own the property

I learned about it when I read an article on Dollar Hide Hunting Club in Greene Co., I believe. Basically, the club owns the land and is broken up into lets say 100 shares. If you own a share you are a member. If you decide to leave the club and sell your share, they will sell it for you so as to maintain membership to those they want. the selling price will be 1/100th of the appraised value of the land, etc. There are other rules about inheritance, etc. That I don't know.

Truthfully, probably a better way to have a club if everyone likes everyone else from the start. The obvious trouble is the needed capital to buy the club. This is the way to go among high dollar good buddies.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

did you know that Dollar Hide dosen't pay any land taxes, they got a special law passed thru the legislature years ago to exempt them. Pisses those local blacks in Greens Co off to no end today.

Pissed off black folks in Greene county isn't something I'd want to be a part of!

I hunt Dollarhide some with a friend I'd give my left nut to be able to get a membership there.
