You get used to it. I have hunted lock on almost exclusively in my life and don't think twice about it now.

I am a wimp also. Just do not feel comfortable facing away from the tree on a small seat. I also have the Tree Walker and I love it.

I perfer loc ons if they are preset. But for carrying in and out I use a climber. The biggest draw back for me is at times on public land it can be difficult to find a climbable tree. For this reason I bought lone wolf sticks and loc on a couple of years ago. However I'm just not very good at setting it up. It takes me way to long and by the time I'm done I'm drenched in sweat. But for someone who is better at it I think it would certainly be an advantage.
