Yeah, that happens sometimes on spine shots. I hate it when it does. Sounds like a cow balling to me.

I shot one in the spine last Friday that made a loud bleat for 2 or 3 seconds.

Had to cut the camcorder off one time when I spine shot a doe. She was making some of the most horrifying sounds ever. It'll almost make you never want to shoot another one.

I shot one with a bow last year that made a sound like a big squealing.
I bet we would all holler if we were spine shot
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I was headed to the truck one morning at Lock 7, on private property. I was near the COE land and could see a camping trailer to my right. I jumped a doe to my left on the private land and shot her high straight up the rear with my 25/06. Hit the spine, she made a horrible likeIshotsomeone noise and fell over, still making the noise. I ran to her and delivered a neck shot to finish her and headed to the truck. I waited an hour and drove around close to her...the camper was long gone. No telling what they thought they heard LOL......

Yes, it happens and it is amazing how shook up people get bowhunting and then can't hit the broad side of a barn to finish the deer off. Yes, it is not a fun experience, but you have to hold it together and do what is necessary to dispatch the deer as soon as possible, damn sure don't turn and talk to the F%^&*%$ camera man while the deer is bawling and flopping around on the ground!!!

Not sure if that was in response to what I wrote about having to turn the camera off, but I was filming myself that day. I had also just made a perfect double lung shot on a doe the day before with the same setup. On this particular deer, I just completely pulled my shot and it was awful shot placement. I immediately shut the camera off and put another arrow in her.

I took my son with me during muzzle loader season when he was 4 years old. We were setup in a shooting house on a food plot and just before last shooting light 3 does stepped out in the field. I decided to shoot the biggest one. Tim was so excited staring out the window waiting for the gun to go off. Well, I hit her high breaking her back right behind the shoulder. She let out a long loud bellow and Tim looked at me and said "There's a lion out there dad." I told him it was the deer and let's go out there and see if we got her. Tim said "No dad there's a lion out there." He did not want to leave that shooting house.

shot a doe once with a rifle, hit her kinda high. she dropped in her tracks, laid there for a few seconds then picked her head up and was making a similar noise. did that for maybe 10-15 seconds then died.

I invited a friend to hunt w/me years ago who was ... how should I say this... A "questionable" shot... We were on one of my pastures, & out walks a baby ... He lowers the boom & that poor thing starts to ball like a freakin' newborn!!!!! As I get the bead on it to put it out of its misery, he cracks off another shot... The funniest thing was his own son (who was like 6 y.o.) "shamed" him -- "Dad, you shot a BABY!!" The cries of a badly hit deer are horrible...

Yep, I've done it. The up side was every deer in the county came slipping in to check it out in the next 5 minutes. Had 13 deer come from every direction and each of them were on full alert and sneaking in.

There are a number of Youtube yahoos that stick their bad shots on the internet like that is some glamorous thing to spine shoot a deer and turn to the camera while the deer is bawling and thrashing around while they talk about how they "just crushed that deer", yadda yadda yadda, when their butt needs to shut the hell up and dispatch the deer. Ego interviews and pictures can happen after business is taken care of!

My dad shot a cull buck 10 years or so ago and hit him kind of high, dropped him in his tracks. He went to recover and realized the deer was very much alive and had to cut its throat..that buck let out a yell that I heard two hollers over. It bothered him a little to say the least.
