Me and Emmett are in and set up. I'm attempting to make our lease great again by taking out Hillary this morning.

I'm in a new spot this morning . got a steady ENE wind.was thinking it would be Nw but I'm here now. Jumped deer on the way in. I'm hoping for redemption after shooting the side of my blind last night.

I'm setup in some hardwoods by a creek this morning. It actually has a little water in it right now. All is quiet so far besides 5-6 wood ducks.

Yall get after them this morning guys, i would love to be in the woods but unfortunately i gotta row with the other slaves

Hunting Barbour wma. Seen 2 doe about 0654

I'm late but I'm here. Hardwoods behind me. Cutover in front. First time I've hunted since opening weekend. It kinda feels like hunting season in Marshall Co this morning. I got a Snuffer that needs to eat.

I just blew it. Sun is all over me. I heard it coming, stood to get ready and it saw me. Shoulda climbed instead of hunting the low ladder. If I had been 45 feet up....or maybe just 20. It was fixing to wind me anyway. This stand has to be moved. Morning sun is a killer.

Got six turkeys moving thru now. Had a doe earlier that came by at 50 yards, never would turn.

She probably keeping those bucks run off. I bet grandpa buck knows where she lives during rut season and will come looking for his special lady if you can put up with her that long.

I refuse, REFUSE!!!, to hunt a stand that looks directly into the sun. I know I'm strange, but I attempt to put all of my stands facing north for this very reason.

How's Emmett feeling after his test this week?

I went ahead and moved the stand. It's in a clump of 3 trees right together now. Good cover. Might be hard to draw but it'll be great for rifle or handgun hunting. Wish it had been here this morning. Season is young...gonna sit a bit then go get a bowl of soup.

Well fellas, I done got blowed, fir the first time.

Two does came in, and I'm positive one of them was the huge alpha doe I missed a few weeks back. They were there for probably 15 minutes, but stayed behind this real real thick stuff. Never got a shot, but I think she saw me stand or something because she stomped around a lot and then blew.

I aint even mad. I saw some deer again.

Nannerhead down. It ain't Hillary though. Shot her about 7:15 and let her lay til 10 so I wouldn't mess Emmett up. Now it's 20 straight years with a bow kill. I wasn't going to jinx it again.

Way to go Shaw. I want ol Emmett to pop one. Don't know the guy but pulling for him. I think it's wicked cool that a guy with health issues says to hell with it, I'm going hunting. Hope I can be that cool whenever I have issues too.

Congrats guys! I'm settled in for the evening. Hardwood flat just south of a small 3 year old cutover. Busted some turkeys out when I stepped in the woods. Now a Jake is yelping and has gobbled (tried anyway) 3 times trying to relocate his buddies. He did call one back. Watched him fly across the cutover back to him. Hoping these white oaks and swampers draw the deer this evening. They're everywhere though. I'm only 200-300 yds from where I killed the doe last Thursday.

Ended up seeing 7 doe this morning. Group of three never presented a shot around 8:30. Then when I started packing up to leave had two big doe come out broadside at 25 yards. Already had my primos bow sling on and my rope clipped to it to let my bow down. I was able to get my sling off knock an arrow and get my release on. Came to full draw when one got behind a tree. Needed her to take 2 steps instead she turned and walked straight away from me standing behind the tree. Oh well that's how it goes.

Been in Wilcox county past couple of days trying to get In a little stand time at our club before the masses show up for gun season. Don't have good cell coverage so haven't been able to post.

Hunting an awesome spot down on a creek had water oaks dropping by the dozens and a couple big pools of water in an otherwise dry creek bed. Also found a fresh scrape and several fresh rubs (we don't usually see much buck sign this early). No bucks seen over 3 days of hunting but was able to take a nice young doe for the freezer. Shot her a little after 9am this morning. The rage hypo did a number on her taking out both shoulders. She ran maybe 35 yards and crashed (if someone can post pic please shoot me a pm).
