Welp, ride her til she bucks you. I'm in the same spot again. I keep seeing deer here and haven't been busted yet. Sooner or later one will give me a shot. There's a bit of a story with one of the deer that I haven't mentioned yet. It'll make a good thread if I do kill it.
Emmett had to take the day off. He's heading to UAB for a test. He needs open heart surgery to repair an aneurysm on his aortic artery and an aortic valve replacement. Problem is the docs have been putting it off because they don't think he would survive the surgery. If they don't do the surgery the aneurysm is a ticking time bomb. The leaky valve causes him to get short winded very easy. When we hunt, we have to stop and take a lot of breaks to let him catch his wind walking in and out. If y'all get a chance throw one upstairs for him.

Back in my spot behind a cedar thicket in Indiana.
It's not how many days you hunt, it's how you hunt each day, that determines the success.

I was up and just about to walk out the door heading to Ft Benning to track one this morning when the hunter sent me a message that his buck had been spotted again at 3 am on base behind some houses walking around with the arrow still in him just a few hundred yards from where it was shot. The shot hit just in front of the back leg and angled down into the gut area. The hunter said he saw the buck walk off with 10-15 inches of arrow sticking out. Deer are some tough critters. I would have never believed from the description that the deer would still be up and going 18 hrs after the shot…..Crazy.

I'm back on the edge of a field. We have a group of yotes on camera in the area now so killing one of them would be just as good as deer right now. I got a coyote call from a friend of mine and it works like a champ. I just called one in to 45 yards. When I started calling he was in the 275 yard range however I missed the 45 yard shot just to his right.

Thanks guys. I'm set up in a loc-on on the middle ridge in the spot where Emmett killed the wide 8 the season before last.

I'm live from dead hole Black Warrior Management Area. Few scrapes are starting to pop up and way to many white oaks to pattern these deer. Who knows I may get lucky! I'm hunting white oaks and logging road in wide open hardwoods. Good luck y'all!
