Until a third party candidate has the charisma and name recognition to start out with 15-20% of the vote at the beginning of the election process, they are wasting everyone's time. This coming in halfway through does nothing but help the democrats by siphoning off votes from republican candidates. If they would run someone decent with national appeal and name recognition, maybe the people would get behind them. Johnson's interviews have exposed him as not being able to think on his feet and he has less than 0 knowledge of world events or anything outside of his home state in New Mexico.

Until a 3rd party candidate finishes with at least 5% of the total vote, they will not have access to the same government funding to give them a fair shake to start out with a higher %. Before the debates, Johnson was polling higher than Perot was prior to his inclusion in debates. Once the American public saw Perot on stage, his following grew quickly. The (R) and (D) machine now keeps third party candidates out of the debates which makes sure that the average voter never realizes that there is, in fact, another choice. We've got to break that cycle.

US news is quoting the same inaccurate poll numbers as everyone else. The entire article is anti-Trump written by a liberal college professor. Notice how all the polls are now miraculously tightening up now that we are getting closer to the election. It's total BS, they show Hillary with a huge 12 pt lead 2 weeks ago in order to beat down trump enthusiasm but now that its getting closer to election time, they have to start getting closer to reality so they dont look stupid and can maintain some credibility on election day. In this case I do feel because the Repub candidate is so weak, that the libertarians are pulling more people such as yourself from voting for the Repub candidate. If the Republicans had run a true conservative, clean, strict constitutionalist, small govt guy, you would have voted for him correct? Hillary's voters are going to vote democrat regardless of what happens. She could kill babies on national TV and they would still pull the lever for here. I dont see many independents voting for her so the votes Johnson is picking up are coming from those that could/would have voted for Trump. Research what you read and see who's writing it and if there is a slant to it before you believe it.

Johnson had a balanced budget during his time as governor in NM. I strongly agree with this.

Johnson believes in almost open borders. I don't. I think immigration should be difficult and border security should be tight.

Johnson is pro-abortion. I can't agree with that more. I would go so far as to say that abortion should not only be legal, it should be free for those who can't afford it.

Johnson thinks no federal funding should be used for stem cell research. I do not agree with that at all.

Johnson believes the national debt, approaching $20 trillion, is bankrupting us and is obscene & unsustainable. I agree very strongly.

Johnson believes there should be no bank bailout; no farm subsidies; no stimulus. I agree 100%

You have to look at the individual candidates this go around. IMO, If both were solid upstanding citizens with good records it would probably split evenly. The entire country knows Hillary is corrupt and she's not a likeable person to start with due to her lack of charisma and "better than you attitude". The people that will vote for her are pretty much cast in stone. I dont think hardly any of the undecideds will break her way because she is who she is and is such a well known commodity. The ones voting for her are doing it because she is a dem or because she is a woman and because of that, if they are voting for her, they are already there with no chance for anyone to change their minds. Therefore, because she is so unpalatable, the undecideds and never Trumper's basically have three choices: vote 3rd party, vote Trump, or not vote at all. Hillary is big government and the libertarians are small govt but somewhat liberal. No self respecting libertarian, if they truly are one, could vote for Hillary because of her big money, big govt ties and links to blatant corruption.

Pretty simple. Trump is the underdog

You can twist and turn it however you want on moral high horses but the FACT still remains. A vote for Johnson is a non vote for trump and a vote for H. Dems vote for Dems no matter what. Repubs and Independents/libertarians are the ones who split votes giving elections to the party that sticks together.
it's not about electing Trump , it's about making Dam sure that the most corrupt politician of our lifetime does not make it into the highest office in the land.

Never thought I'd say it but I wish Ron Paul was running. He might actually have a chance as bad as the nominees of the Republican, Democrat and Libertarian parties, are.

I think the thing that has contributed the most to the steady stream of bad candidates is people believing that just because their peers look like them, they owe their vote to the consensus of their peer group. It's the same mentality that blacks get made fun of for voting democrat no matter what.

People, in general, feel threatened if their choice is challenged or not supported by others that look like them and live where they do. It's expected everyone will fall in line and give into the same fears they have.

I think Hillary is the wrong choice for anyone with a conscience but I have no problem with anyone looking for an alternative to what they perceive as a candidate that doesn't deserve their support. I understand that makes some people angry and they will attack and try and shame anyone with that opinion but they don't have to like it because my decisions are my own and no one else's.

The people that feel like attacking and labeling me , and others, a liberal because of my refusal to carry the cult of Trump torch aren't important to me so they can vent if they like but they are wasting their breath. Convictions that can be altered by peer pressure and shaming weren't rooted in anything worth while, anyway.

I understand the reasons for voting against Hillary but I also understand people's reasons for looking for an alternative to Trump. I don't have a problem with either group.
