something I've noticed recently.....

it seems like everybody's "mad on the internet" these days. Mad about where a company makes their vehicles, or where their clothes are made (the Carhartt Chevy thread), angry over politics when both sides are equally corrupt - just opposite sides of the same coin, angry because some other people won't stand for the national anthem at some football game, and plenty of other examples....

and it's not just this board, it's all over social media, you overhear conversations in public about it. I know several people personally who seem to things beyond their control dominate their lives. It's everywhere.

And most of those people want to blame someone else - political leaders, religious leaders, celebrities, business executives, whoever. But it's nobody's fault but their own. If you spend your life worrying about a bunch of crap that is TOTALLY OUT OF YOUR CONTROL, you are going to lead a miserable life and you'll probably make a lot of the folks in your life miserable as well.

Inevitably, some are going to say that this outlook IS the problem and accuse me of "not caring" or "not taking a stand" against [insert topic]. I'm not saying you shouldn't care about it - you should. But do whatever you can do to actively affect it, then move on. Let it go, knowing you've done what you could, and quit fretting over it and letting it control your life. I've been just as guilty as everyone else, but I've been making an effort to work on it and I've found that I've been noticeably happier for it.

I know this came off as preachy but it's just been weighing on my mind lately. Sorry for the rambling, y'all have a good Friday!

I often come off as mad when I am not at all. Then that may make others think they should be mad in agreement or in disagreement.

I guess I need to start adding more smileys or something.

I'm happy that you have good grammar. Hillary is still a nasty cunt though.

Not "preachy" to me. I've noticed this also, in my life and almost everywhere else. I think most people need to read things like this regularly.

As a matter of fact, I can only remember one time when I was mad on this forum.

I was giving cpr to a stupid baby squirrel and getting chewed out on all sides from the wife/kid/neighbors/internet people for not doing it right.

And I wasn't really mad at being told I was doing something illegal - it hurt my feelings that the internet person yelled at me. Seems so trivial now but it actually hurt my feelers at the time.

The only people I know who are not bothered by current events, are blissfully ignorant or dumb as a box of rocks.

I really don't believe there is a way to stay informed with current events and have a positive outlook on the future.

Again, I didn't say you can't/shouldn't be bothered. But there's a difference in just "being bothered" by it and letting it keep you down. Also, as a Christian I know from studying the Bible that all of this is just temporary. It teaches that this world will, more often than not, be pretty crappy in many ways. It shouldn't be surprising to any Christian. The positive outlook for the future is in knowing that if you live life the right way, there is a much better future waiting for you afterward.

I'm not a preacher and I'm about as far from being a "perfect" Christian as one can be, but if anyone wants to discuss it, PM me and I'd be happy to talk about it.

I've often asked, isn't it the things we can't control that we should worry about? After all, if I can control it, I'm not worried about it. Yeah, I'm being funny, but in reality this makes more sense to me. Now I'm not gonna give myself a Prozac prescription over these matters, but in the still moments, I fret the coming days.

It's like the old saying, "anticipation of death is worse than death itself." It's the unknown, the uncontrollable aspect.

I think it is my sub-clinical manic behavior that makes me pissed and would thus, explain my channeled production. I always get a lot done on those days. Today was not one of those days.
