I know y'all will say none, but my wife is a crack shot, and aware of correct placement. Distance will be 50 to 90 yards max. Looking for a good bullet to reload. Thing is I need to stay at 55gn max as my twist is 14:1, REM 700
any suggestion on bullets or o factory loads is appreciated.

My boys have killed a ton of deer and hogs with a 50 gr spsx hornady. Neck shots on deer and head or neck shots on hogs. No tracking and no guessing and don't shoot unless you know the shots good and never have any doubt that well placed ethical shot from a 223 will kill anything that breaths air

The only reason that I ever wanted to go to Africa was to prove to the world that a 60gr 22 cal bullet in an Elephants brain would stop the need for oxygen and food.

55 barnes or 60 partition.I know 1-14 ain't ideal try it though.Don't think you can take a .22 centerfire to Africa legally.

Barnes tsx, TTSX or partitions will never fail you, that being said correct shot placement is key to 22 caliber bullets. But you won't have to worry about bullet performance with any of those. I have made kills with 223 and always had good bullets, not saying others won't perform or work but you are already limited with the caliber so make the best of it and it will do fine at the distances you stated, but it starts running out of energy after about 150-200 yards.

I would feel much safer with the 375 though!

If i remember even Karamojo Bell used a .318 instead of 7x57 on elephant.

55 gr. Hornady soft point.

Looking at the videos of it in ballistic gel, the 55 and 64 grain speer gold dots have pretty good performance.

52g hornady BTHP Match.... be worth a try... I shoot it in my .220 swift have killed many deer with it never any issues

Shot 55g game kings out of my sons 22-250 for deer did great also

Try Sierra 55 gr gamekings. Read reviews on midways website.

Karamojo Bell killed hundreds of elephants with a 7x57, but also used a 318 on occasion. I also knew a woman who recently passed away, who killed a lot of African game, including an elephant, with a 7x57.

bullchitt, you can take anything to Africa. Yer PH may not let you shoot what you want to with a particular gun though. We took a Ruger 10/22 22 rimfire with us. Shot a bunch of grouse with it.

Pretty sure no one in Africa would let you use a 223 on an elephant, also pretty sure it wouldn't work.

Bell used heavy, long FMJ bullets and was a hell of a marksman. I read where he killed a bunch of cape buffalo with a ..22 centerfire rifle.

Past it, or through it? Big difference, you don't have to go through it. Many an elephant have been killed with skull intact

Elephant guns at one time were 303's with cheap, not well made ammo and they killed elephants

I solved the problem. I bought her a Rem 700 SPS Buckmasters Edition
Has a,great triggeras compared to what is usually found in them. Its the Pro Mark fully adjustable trigger. This model also has some otherodds and ends the standard 700 SPS does not have. Using 100 gr Sierra Game Kings. I think sheshould be ok with this setup. Putv,Leuopold 3 x 9 x 50mm scope on it
Spent the day loading the duplicate of Federal Premium with Sierra Game KingsGT IT zeroed at 150 yards and 5 bullet holes touching. using 36.2 grain of IMr 4064 and cci primers.with 100 Sierra GameKings
