I'm here. Sitting on a firebreak with smz behind me with 10 year old pines beyond that. Looking out into hardwoods that are raining acorns. Suppose to be ese wind right now it's north. Hope it changes or I May be in trouble.

I'm sitting in a strip of hardwoods between pines and a cutover this morning. First time I've sat here this year. White oaks are falling like crazy in here.

Had to get down. Got some work to do. No deer just a million squirrels.

Got a big doe at Bankhead this morning. Congrats! Rest of y'all knock em down. I hope to have my first sit this weekend
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

Tracked a stud of a buck in Lee Co this morning in the 130 range. The deer had been shot yesterday evening in the guts. The hunter got a pass through and the arrow looked good for the type shot it was but there was hardly any blood on the ground. We pretty well tracked right to him after working two checks….but the only problem was he was still alive. He went around 400-500 yards back to his bedding area in some nasty arse regrowth from a young pine stand only a few years old. The type of stuff where you just put your gloves on, stick your forearms up in front of your face and go. I was right in Otis’s back pocket almost like he was “on lead” because the whole track was right off of a major roadway and we were getting closer and closer to it.
We were within about 250 yards when the buck jumped up right in front of our faces. He looked weak but he was still going good enough to get up and leave in something like a hurried walk. I only saw him for a brief moment in all the thickness. I immediately toned Otis off of him and marked the spot on the GPS. We’re gonna go back in the morning and see if he hopefully only ran a few hundred yards and bedded back up. We don’t have a whole lot more room to work with on this property so it’s hard to say if he’ll be there or not. Thankfully it looked like he was going away from the road but who knows from there. The shot is apparently pretty marginal but it’s still going to eventually be lethal I believe.

I was just sitting here studying the aerial photo of the place on Google Earth and I feel really good about finding him if he just lays down and dies. He doesn't have many options of places to go looking at the way the land lays out.

Well was it a mechanical or fixed head? Fixed blade this time. Deer was quartering to the hunter at about 30 yards. The hunter reported that the arrow hit back behind the shoulder…..angling back into the guts. I’m guessing it was also low. Arrow was covered with a sort of translucent slimy blood. Not what we would call “good blood” but it obviously looked to have made a pass through.
