I bought a new pair of LaCrosse rubber boots and they're coated will some sort of oil/grease. I've wiped it off but dang, those boots smell like a rubber factory. I know it will eventually go away but is there anything that will killl the smell of the rubber?
Thanks.
I bought an ATV to get to my hunting area, now half the fun of hunting is the ride in and out.

I mow the yard a couple of times in any new boots, fill them with water to look for leaks, dump, let dry, hose down with scent killer and scrub with a big bristle brush. Then let air dry in the sun. If I have a chance to wear them around any mud-water-ditches-creeks then I'll do so and scuff, get muddy and so forth.

The boots were LaCrosse "Grange", non-insulated. light weight and with wool socks my feet stay comfy down to about 35 degrees, then I have to switch to insulated boots.
I tried rubbing them with a cloth and scent killer laundry soap but that didn't touch the scent.
My lawn has dried up so cutting not needed, I do have leaves to rake though... I was hoping for something quicker and easier.

Were they alpha burlys? I am about to purchase soem new ones myself and have been trying to decide on lacrosse or Muck... I wear Aeroheads and they are great, having said that; I am getting the new Muck Pursuit Shadow boots next summer when it's time to get a new pair. I tried some on at Grabows and was blown away with how light and comfy they are.

I left muck because they kept getting holes torn in them. I still own a pair of muck snake boots but that's it. They are super comfy but if you hunt anywhere near briar thickets they wont last.

I've got some rubber stall mats from tractor supply that are over 3 years old and have been in a barn or outside the whole time. They still stink like Chinese rubber. Same goes for the deer cart I got off Amazon two years ago. I think whatever the smell is is just in the rubber. I wouldn't worry about it, if you return them you'll just get a fresh stinking pair.
