I saw more deer yesterday morning than I have ever seen hunting in the woods (30 years of hunting). Not near a feeding station, not near a field.

In 4 hours I saw 38 deer, only 3 were bucks (two spikes and a small 8pt). A typical morning hunt for me is seeing 3-5 deer.

I saw some of them twice, the largest group had 8 and I saw them headed east at 8:15 and then they came back west at 9:30. Another group of 5 went west and 45 minutes later came back past me. One of those does had a wart or something at the top of one shoulder.

I don't know why they all decided to move but it made a great morning to be in the stand.

I saw 21 yesterday morning, which is the most I've seen on that property in 15 years of hunting it. I saw most between 11-12:30. That was in the woods on acorns as well, so I could only see a little ways.

I saw more deer this weekend than I've seen my first two seasons combined. I attribute most of that to me actually learning how to hunt the wind, but also to them just being up and moving.

It is Monday, 1:27 p.m., and there are 9 deer feeding on honeysuckle by the creek in my back yard ( I do not put put out any feed).

I didn't shoot any but I saw several munching on acorns Saturday during my sit. None were within range. Saw a few on the drive in and out too.
