Was hunting Wheeler the other day and had a large Bobcat circle my perimeter at about 80 yards. The Bobcat circled me twice and he stayed in sight for about 45 minutes. About 1 hour after he left a pair of Bucks started my way and got within 82 yards according to my Range Finder, but they locked up for about 5 minutes and then Blew and Flagged leaving the area. I had the wind in my face and it was at their backs. Is this a typical reaction to the scent of the Bobcat or maybe something else? Thanks.

Dang right it is, nothing will put them in high gear like a cat. I've had deer up wind take off like stuck with a hot stick for no reason , then in a couple of minutes out comes ol Bob.

Uncle saw a bobcat walk out into a food plot on a 4 pt. The 4pt. kept his eyes on the cat but never really disturbed him off his browsing. They both tolerated each other.

I wish wheeler would allow predators like that to be killed. I saw 8-10 coyotes last year and 3 bobcats out there. One time had a pack of 3 coyotes circle around me almost right before dark. That was a great feeling knowing they were close when leaving. haha

Several years ago during the January rut I was about to draw down on a nice eight point right at dark when a pack of yotes started up about 75 yards away from us.That deer fuzzed up with his ears laid back and stiff legged walked straight to those coyotes.I sat there till at least 10 minutes after dark and never heard those coyotes again.Behavior like that was a first for me.

Anytime I saw deer running real fast, I saw bobcats shortly after. Same here except replace bobcat with a yard dog.

I can't ever remember adult deer taking flight when a Coyote comes along, they become nervous and attentive. However, I remember seeing two Bobcat encounters , one where two huge cats were together, that sent deer running like they were on fire.

I've seen deer walking towards a bobcat in a field on several occasions. The deer never spooked, but they did run the bobcat off one of those times.

Interesting, and just another fact stating you never know how deer will relate to a predator. Every encounter I've had with deer/yotes result in the deer fleeing. In my experience, hogs will do the same thing to a deer...which is normally empty a field when they come out. With that said, I've had a matriarch doe put a bobcat up a tree and keep it there while three yearlings fed. Wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and even have it on film. One of the coolest encounters I've ever seen in the woods.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Last year before rifle season opened I was in Paint Rock area and had a yote come in. Watched him circle around me while waiting to get land owner permission to kill it. Next thing I know I see deer come off the mountain and the yote then chases them away. Right then I get the approval to kill him. Sad thing was it was to late and he was out of range.
