Heck no. I used one once and will never use one again. Just didn't work? I didn't see any difference between using it and not. The only difference I could tell was the smell it puts off. They aren't worth the trouble for me. I'm in the same boat. It's just one more thing to tote into the woods

Don't forget your pull up rope. That's easy one to overlook first time out for me. Gun hunting I usually climb with rifle on my back so.... I have arrived at ladder stands and had to carry bow in one hand. Harder to do with climber of lock on.
