Looks like we got some big buck killers in the group! I'll be hunting mainly just 2 properties in Alabama. My family farm 900 acres in Bibb co. And a little 120 acres in Lee co. I don't usually kill big bucks but when I do it's gonna be a really big buck! Sounds like a possible team name " the most interesting hunters/team in the world"

Got a couple cold ones in me and I been thinking out loud.

The Camo Crusaders
The Whisker Biscuits
The Ballistic Tips
The Mayors of Rack City
The BoneJanglers

I'll see what else comes to mind. I'm up for anything though.

Boy I'm ready for hunting season! I'll be up at the club tomorrow morning checking cameras. Hopefully got some good ones!

I'm good with any name that you all come up with. I'm drawing blanks on coming up with anymore on my own.

I'm fine with whatever as far as name. Bonejanglers is kinda catchy or blm.

Looks like a solid team here fellas. Hopefully this year will turn out better for me than last. I've got a decent 10 patterned, if he will stick to it for one more week. I'll be hunting Jefferson and Shelby county mainly, also picked up a place near Bankhead that I will lay eyes on tomorrow or Sunday. Already been to Kentucky once this year, I'll be going back for 5 to 6 days in the rut. Maybe something will fall our way.

I've got a place of Pocahontas rd, if you bowhunt, we will have to get out there and whack a dos or two in bow season.

I'll be hunting in Jackson County. Got 1500 acres that has produced some great deer over the last few years. Hoping it keeps producing for this year. I've had some good deer on camera that I hope to get a shot at. I'll also be hunting some of the refuge land once the 9 day refuge hunt opens. Good luck to you fellas. I hope we smoke em!

Just pulled cards for the last time before season. The ten point is still coming up a ridge finger every night 2-3x, and several times during the week. Seems to be getting more nocturnal though. If I've got the right wind, I'll be all over it this weekend.

I hope you get him. There's some good deer over in that area in Jefferson county. I have some friends over that way that have some big farms. They just won't let anyone deer hunt it.

There are some really good deer, if you've got good neighbors. Our problem is, we have people on all sides that shoot tons of little ones. I normally don't hunt this place at all, except for convenience

I'm up and at em for my first sit. Don't feel real good about the spot but I'm excited anyways. Plan on buck hunting only for the first couple weeks, but if an ole nanny looks at me wrong you never know.

I didn't hunt either afternoon. Saw 7 yesterday morning and 3 today. I was trying to get a chance at a decent buck I have on camera, so I passed on the does. I'll shoot a doe in the next few weeks.

Man y'all I messed up yesterday and let a big mystery buck get away. I blame it on trail cameras and not having high expectations for my spot. I hadn't had a shooter on this camera yet this year, and had a pair of spikes coming in regular every afternoon. Well sure enough yesterday afternoon I hear some deer walking towards me and a spike pops outta the woods so I immediately relax and assume the next deer that steps out will be the other little spike. Was I ever wrong a wide thick horned 8point steps out, and would've been my biggest deer ever. As big bucks do by the time I decided I was going to shoot he was already walking away, and I wasn't able to get a shot.

Atleast you're in there on them! I did a quick hunt this afternoon with a friend and he killed one that I missed lol. I let it walk by at 20yds, then watched it at 40-45 for 30 minutes before deciding to shoot it. I had to basically stuff my bow into some branches to shoot that direction and my rangefinder was on the fritz. Don't know id if I hit a limb or misjudged the distance, but it ran right over to him and he whacked it. I'm normally good for about one miss a bow season, so hopefully I got that out of the way lol. On the plus side, I've seen deer every sit, even with the crappy conditions. Much better sightings than last year.

Saw a few this morning that were all does. I have about 5or 6 bucks on camera in one spot with one being big enough to shoot and another that is close. All my pics are at night though! I'd like to catch him with that velvet still on. I've never shot a buck big enough to score so what do y'all think he will go?

That's a good deer. I hope you get him. I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow afternoon. Having a sick youngin at the house this weekend messed my weekend of hunting up.

I broke down and killed a doe today. Of course 30 minutes later I had the 10pt I've been chasing come in and stay within 40yds for almost 45 minutes. Never could get a shot and he either winded me or smelled the blood and kinda trotted off. He's bound to mess up sooner or later. Don't think I boogered him too badly.

Thats about like my morning. I had 3 different deer in easy kill range but passed on them all because I was watching a buck off in the distance..he never came my way and eventually the others were out of range. Saw 9 deer or so total.

I missed.... I hope it was the smaller of the two. Left my arrow there trying to get out of there quietly. I can't get my pins close enough together for 20,30,49 so I'm set up for 20,40 and I forgot this. I will be buying a new site tomorrow. Any suggestions?

Hha. I was always set on fixed pins until I tried a single pin.

If your bow is shooting that flat, you should set it at 25-35-45 anyways

I got my bow set up to shoot everything from 0-30 with the top pin. And 40 yds with the 2nd pin. I took the third pin out but will set it up for 45 or 50 next year. I also replaced the batteries in my sight light. Having done all of this I probably won't see a deer the rest of bow season! But if I do, I am good to go.

Good luck! It's so dang hot! I went this afternoon and about sweated to death, plus got skunked. I'm gonna hunt both mornings, probably watch football tomorrow afternoon.

I'm gonna head to Kentucky sometime next week, looks like a front coming in Thursday.

Got a 90lb doe this morn. Not a very good looking shot but she only made it 60yds, so I guess it was a good shot! Could see her white belly from my arrow. Had 3 people in camp this weekend. Even though the plot are dirt the acorns are dropping good. We actually had more success on water oaks than we did white oaks. We saw deer on 9 of 12 sits and managed 5 shots on does. 1 miss, 2 not recovered, 2 recovered. All in all a very good weekend for record high temps no food plots! Ran off and didn't get any pics of her so I'll have to kill another one for the competition.

Glad you could break the ice jlbuc. I didn't go this weekend but I took Friday off so hopefully I can tag one Friday morning. I'm just itching to put an arrow through something.

That's awesome maybe you'll see some pre rut activity. I used to take one big trip a year, but now being a new business owner and new father of a 9month old those trips are a no go this morn. This season will be the least I've hunted in about 6 years. Hopefully maybe it will keep the pressure down on my main piece that until this year got hunted about 4 days/week. This year I'll be lucky to get one sit a week out there.

It should be wide open with the front coming in. My buddy up there is reporting big bucks on their feet. Does will be getting right over the next week. Hopefully I can atleast have some exciting hunts. I'm packing now.

Hey buddy! Welcome. Congrats on your new grand baby. Don't worry you haven't missed much. Ain't hardly worth hunting right now. Maybe this lil front coming through this weekend will be a start in the right direction.

Rattled in one shooter who winded me at 30 yds, but otherwise uneventful in Kentucky. May run back up soon. Hope y'all are having some luck

Nothing here. I'm a weekend warrior theses days so I'll prob get 2-3 sits in this weekend. I shot a coyote in my best spot last weekend and he died like 30 yds from the stand. I didn't move him like a dummy now my whole area stinks to high heaven and it covered up in vultures.

I'm down your way this weekend. Russell county, right by the Meade plant on 165. Rut is on from what I hear. Hopefully something pans out, I'm due some good luck.

I'll be in the woods all weekend for the rifle opener. I'll more than likely be guiding family though. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to be the trigger man in the mornings

Well I tried it yesterday afternoon and thought I'd see a ton of deer but didn't see a dadgum thing. I'm going on a dove hunt today instead. Hoping the weather cooperates cause I'll be headed to my farm next weekend for what should be prime rut timing.

Any one killing anything or hunting at all? I hunted hard this weekend at my farm in Bibb co. They were rutting but between the poor food plot growth and crappy weather I didn't see much other than a few spikes dogging does. Very depressing considering Ive never killed a buck at my farm in my entire 31 years of life, and I spend countless hours and money improving the land Injust never see the results. 900 acres and can't even buy a 3.5 year old

I've been a few times and saw a lot of deer, just nothing to shoot yet. We're still a little ways out in Sumter county before they get real active. What part of Bibb county is your farm in jilbuc?

I shot a buck this afternoon with my bow. Right at dark, couldn't tell where I hit him, so he is gonna lay over night. He was outside the ears, but not sure how big he is. Think he is a big 6 pt I've seen once before. Today was my 52nd sit of the season, been very slow overall, but maybe it will improve.

Gonna brave the cold temps tomorrow. Hoping for the best! My brother killed a nice 8pt at 3pm chasing a doe. It's starting to liven up at our place, finally, maybe.

Good luck to who ever gets out there this weekend!

Good luck, I'd like to go in the morning but it is going to be dependent on the roads. I'd have an hour drive to the property I really want to hunt.

I was only able to make half a dang hunt in all that nice cold weather we had last weekend. Tried Saturday afternoon but had a client with me that wanted to get down early so I had to get down as well. So missed the last and best 45 minutes of light. Now I don't see any cold weather coming in the forecast so maybe I'll get lucky this last month. Prob have 6-7 more hunts left in the season. Hope to atleast get one more doe.

Hey guys haven't checked in a while. I shot a doe the evening the snow hit but didn't get any pics because I was in a hurry to get home. Sounds like everyone is having a tough time. I had what sounded like a buck on the edge of a green field Saturday but never did step in the field. Anyway, I'll be back after it this weekend. Good luck to everyone.

I'm pretty much in brown it's down mode now, and I can't seem to even see a deer.

I'm pretty much in turkey mode, I had 3 encounters with shooters in early season and lost one that I stuck around Christmas, haven't seen a buck in a month. It's really getting old not having any productive land.

It's been a crappy year. I saw several decent deer but only one that I really wanted to shoot and I missed. I'm just glad season is over. I'm ready to stick some fish
