Gokeys are $500. Are the Chippewas in any way comparable? They're about half the $$.

This past turkey season was my second with my Chippewa's. So far, no leaks and I am loving them. After the season, I have pressure washed them and put Sno Seal on them, and they are good to go until next time. This is the cheapest price I've seen on them and where I bought mine.

That's a good price! I've emailed Thompson Shoes in Spartanburg, SC. They sold me some Redwings a while back for WAY less than I could find anywhere else, and shipped for free.

This ebay seller is selling blemished Chippewa boots (cosmetic only) for $189 or less.

The reviews on the boots seem positive.

It is my understanding that the Gokey brand was bought by Orvis about 20 years ago, and the Gokeys we see now aren't the equal to the reputation they built up over 50 years. I'm still wearing my 25 year old Russells, but they are awfully heavy. I'd get the nylon and leather Chippewas.

Chippewa was acquired by Justin in '84, and Justin bought by someone else after that. Not all of their models are American made, anymore, or of the "Chippewa Quality", either.

Just went through my 4th season of turkey hunting and spraying cogon grass with my Chippewa boots. They've got some miles on them to and so far they have been very comfortable and have no leaks.

I've wanted a pair of Chippewa's for a while but my arch is too high and I have a hard time getting them on. They are good looking boots that I have heard will last forever.

My Chippewa snake boots lasted for about 1 season of deer/turkey. The Chippewas did not hold up in briars and water, and they do not have very much traction. After that, I tried the Lacrosse mudlite which also fell apart after one season.

I am now onto the Danner Pronghorn. So far, they are the easiest to pull on/off, still waterproof, and lighter than any boots in my closet. Time will tell.
