Unless that person is working around molten metal, welding, torches, plasma cutting, hydraulic oil, concrete.

If they're looking at pine trees, lace up boots would work fine.

All the boots that you'd THINK were made here...Georgia, Durango, Waco, etc...all made in China.

I used to wear Asics tennis shoes, but got to where my feet hurt all the time. Bought a new pair, and my feet were fine, so I bought another pair to have on hand and switch them out now and then. Of the 2 new pairs I bought, one was made in China, the other in the US, and I could tell a significant difference. Asics are all made overseas, now, and I've switched to New Balance. Some New Balance are made overseas, too, and there's a big difference there, too. The cushioning and arch support in the foreign shoes seems to go flat in about 4 or 5 months, where the US made shoes usually hold up for at least 2 or 3 times that long.

If you ever roll a 1400F dollop of liquid aluminum up under your guard and into the laces, and then yanked a knot in the laces trying to get it off, you might disagree. That happened about 12 years ago and I haven't worn lace-up boots since. Had to limp to the steps and run my knife down the laces to kick it off.

Slip ons are much better for hot metal work. To easy to burn boot laces, the seems bust easily sometimes also and causes burns to the feet. Got scars to show it.

I no longer work with hot metal, and prefer the lace ups now.
