Hey guys. I am looking to get into bow hunting. I was hoping to get some suggestions for a reasonably priced bow that is a good starter bow for me. I have never owned a bow before. Any suggestions on brands and types would be appreciated. Looking to spend around $300 or less. I have searched craigslist for a use one but really don't know what i am getting for the money. Also i will be hunting some private land on about 80 acres this year. I have a climber stand, but would like something permanent that can be left there. Any reccomendations on ladder stands would be great that don't break the bank. Thanks.

This one would also be a good cheap one to go with for real cheap. Not as good of a bow as the one above, but it will kill deer all day long.

Bama be sure no matter what bow you buy, that the draw length is right. My first 2nd hand bow the end of the draw was at my ear. No
I didn't kill anything but time with that bow. Take your time and get one that fits you ! Go to a bow shop and get them to measure your draw length. Hunt safe

Smoke divers bow is sweet, many think its the best bow made by Mathews ever. it is also a bow that will last you a long time. Good luck And make sure you use a harness !!!!

Go to a good shop or get someone that knows how and get yourself properly measured for you draw length. That is a jam up deal on Smoke Diver's Switchback.

Thanks Shaw. Bama tacoma pm'd me and I cut him a little slack on the bow. Added a few arrows and told him about Mathews and how he'd be able to find cams etc for this bow. This thing is a sweet shooting bow and is pretty much as quiet as my Z7. If I didn't have 2 switchbacks I wouldn't be trying to sell it.

I've got a switchback xt and love it.

That's a good bow right there.

A little more than your stated budget, but as the requisite Bear guy on here, this is a killer deal - http://www.aldeer.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1849098&gonew=1#UNREAD

This one isn't as high-end as the others above, but it's been a good bow to me. Very smooth. Only selling because I bought a Mathews Drenalin from one of the guys on here.

The way bama_tacoma was hitting with it today at the house the deer better stay away. That's a freaking awesome bow.
