Been all summer without seeing any deer. Things are hopping everywhere now. It's every year. I don't know if it's the slightly cooler mornings, the shorter days or what. But they always seem to get more active around here the last week or 2 of September.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands:
“The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

I've noticed a lot more activity on the sides of roads. I assume it has something to do with all the forage dying off in the woods and the acorns haven't started dropping yet. Grass on the side of the road is about all they have to eat right now.

I've noticed that over the last week we seemed to have more action on the game cameras in terms of "new" deer and deer during the day. If the deer are anything like me, they are well past ready for good ole cool mornings.

central ala,
I worked in the hunting and shooting industry for several years. A business could advertise all they want to but nothing sold guns, scopes, etc. like the first cool snap of fall. So it's not just the varmints.

Deer ramp up their food intake this time of year.
