Guys I'm looking for recommendations on some good deer hunting lodges in the Selma area. Thinking of taking a group on a hunt and would like some input on some lodges in that area.

Have you googled and done any research on the ones you are interested in? I've heard nothing but great reviews from southern sportsmen

Why would you spend big bucks to hunt any lodge in ALABAMA ?

Bojie Beers at Alabama River Hunting Lodge

http://www.alariver.com/

or Billy and Fielding Watts at Blackbelt Hunting lodge

http://alabamablackbeltadventures.org/blackbelt-hunting-lodge/

I know all these guys personally and know they will do all they can for you. I can't promise the deer will cooperate, but these guys will do all they can. BTW, I hunt within a long stones throw from both places. They are all farmers on old family land that has been in a controlled hunting situation for as long as there were deer in Alabama.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I went on a hunt at Pako with the power company, it was pretty good. They have quail as well. I mainly enjoyed it because i didn't have to pay for it. LOL

Quail hunting would make for a much better group trip. High Log Creek in Hatchechubee AL has a real nice set up for quail hunting. They have horses, lodge, the whole set up. Some of the most fun you will have with your britches on.

Son won a hunt at Southern Sportsman. Very nice people and nice lodge. Decent land. Didnt see much, personally would not pay to hunt there. Seems like someone told me they lost some of the prime land they had leased at one time. If it was me, I'd go to Westervelt Lodge. It's on the river at Aliceville. Great lodge, great food, great land. They do it all: deer, ducks, quail, continental pheasant, skeet, clays, fishing, whatever you want. Basically it's a 12,000 acre block of the prettiest river bottom land you've ever seen. I would not hesitate to take clients or a group there. Its well managed and they kill a lot of good bucks there every year. Steve Carroll is running it now and he's a great guy. Very personable. Call and tell him what you are wanting and let him work you up a package price.

Jawbone how are the dove hunts at Alabama River outfitters. Says they have dove hunt packages. Any idea how good from personal experience or from others' experiences?

Soggy bottom lodge in linden. Depending on your budget. Definitely do not fool with pushmataha plantation in butler. We had our wedding there. Certified jackasses. Had to clean the place before and after and their "maid" which was supposed to be our help too sat on her democratic butt the whole time. For once didndonuffin was true for her. Wouldn't return phone calls etc etc

It's the experience of that place that's awesome. I didn't go to shoot anything but the bass fishing is bomb. I guess they would be high fence fish so it doe st count

I've never been but I hear Bojie can put on a a dove hunt as well as anyone. Talk to him right and he might even take you out jugging on the river when the sun goes down.

The only place for deer I would recommend in this state is Tatum creek. They are between Selma and Marion junction. I use to guide at a hunting outfitter in bullock county if that's worth anything to you.

That would be Matt Free's place. I know him too but I don't hunt in that area so I have to go with what I know. The Frees are good folks though. Their daughter is in my son's class and she kills bigger bucks than any of the boys most years.

Casey's Hunting Camp is nice just outside of Selma in Carlowville (not sure on spelling). I went there last year and had a blast. Plenty of deer, some hogs, and great food.
