It will work in Alabama but it will work better if you did it at the right time of the day. I have had my best luck rattling about 15 minutes before first light or midday real close to good bedding areas.
The before first light is tricky. I have rattled them in quickly and not be able to see them. Normally they hang around until I can see what they are. They just seem to respond well in the dark.
