If you get stuck, rub some of the slime from the catfish on the wound, it'll neutralize the poison.

It don't work on hardheads.

It worked every time for me, but you also run the risk of exposure to bacteria, so it's a gamble. Also, if someone tells you that licking a hardhead will make you trip like LSD, it doesn't work.

Another remedy is very hot water. It'll denature the toxin.

Quote of the week! thumbup

I wish I was home and not across the pond working. I would take you out in the boat fishing.

Ive been stuck many times. Worst pain ever!! If you get stuck in the hand or foot, simply place the hand or foot in slushy ice water. This will numb the area and keep you pain free. The only problem is that you will need to do this for about an hour before the pain subsides. Clean the area afterwards to avoid infection. Years ago, a friend of mine and his father, were setting a gill net near Fort Pickens and had over 100 hard head cats in the net. They piled them all in one pile on the beach and the father slipped and fell into the pile of catfish. He went in to convulsions and had to be life flighted to Baptist hospital.
