I can attest to the pain. I got bit by a feral cat on my index finger over the joint. That SOB swole up the size of an polish sausage. Hurt like hell. I got put on so many antibiotics it made my head spin. Keep an eye on it, if the joint gets infected it ain't good.

Get you a good dose of gout and you'll forget all about that finger. And everything else in life.

My last one hit me in the left knee. Put me on crutches for three days. Finally raised the white flag and started taking allopurinol. The big toe pain, I could take, the knee pain I couldn't.

I had surgery on one of my fingers twice last year to relieve the pain and pressure from the infection. All started from a hang nail. I told the doctor that if they had to go back in, it was going to be to take it off. I was on antibiotics for over a month and found out I'm allergic to sulfa drugs

If this is the case, just be glad it is your finger about to fall off.

I feel your fear, I cut two fingers many yrs ago and the shoots before stitches had me begging for relief. It was a woman Dr and she stuck in the wounds 9 times. Told me to be a man. i wanted to kick her azz ! Show he who the man was !

Last one of those that I had, I cut down to the base of the toenail with scissors and pulled it out with needle nosed vice grips.

I was at
work mig welding and was tacking parts up that had a hole drilled in the center. And when I went to tack it I slipped and it went through my glove to the bone.

And when I did I believe I created a new language.

Perch, I cut the snot out of my right bird finger all the way to the knuckle. The nurse scrubbed it out, then stuck a shot directly into the proud flesh at the tip. It hurt so bad I couldn't say anything, but I came two feet up off that ER bed. I wouldn't let her stick me again and took ten stitches without any deadener. It hurt a LOT less that that damn shot did.

That's how it got infected to begin with. I attempted to dig it out with a case knife. I could handle the ingrown toe no problem, the infection is what killed me.

I broke my left ring finger and the Ortho had to put pins in. They were left sticking out and before he removed them, he stuck what looked a turkey injection needle into the knuckle at the base of my ring finger. After he pulled that bastard out, the nurse came by all red faced and shut the door to the exam room. I think I exposed that whole office to some new redneck 42 county cussing. I issued a group apology as I went out the door. It didn't hurt as bad as gout, but son of a bitch, it hurt.

I have to get ingrown nails cut out almost yearly. The last one got infection and I just had them pull the whole nail off. It worked much better and healed quicker

I had something 4 years ago that the orthopedic surgeon I finally saw after 3 rounds of oral antibiotics said he had not seen since the 70's.It was called a bone felon and the only way to rid it was fillet my finger open and clean out the bone.Then after that I was on I.V antibiotics for a week.Doc told me that is how they fix it now but when he was in the Marines that they just cut it off when it got that bad.I had red stripes running up my arm headed to my heart.The pain was so bad that out of desperation one night I put one of my wifes large sewing needles through it to relieve the pain and never felt the needle.After getting biscuit dough out of it I made my third trip to the E.R and told them if they didn't do something about it that I was going home and get wasted enough to cut it off myself.They sent me to the O.S. and only then did I get relief.I saw him that morning and had surgery that afternoon.Take care of that finger man and soak that thing in Listerene.

I barely cut mine cleaning a deer a few years ago and that joker got infected. Hurt like hell

For the record, gout is the worse pain I can remember ever having. It is what walking with infected burned broken feet must feel like.

I got a bad staph infection last Summer and have had 3 more bouts with it since.
This last one put me down for 4 days!! Bacteriosis, I think, is what he called it? All I know is it will make you sick as Hell and hurt like you have been run over by a truck!!!!!!
I took multiple shots daily for 4 days and have been on Doxycycline twice a day for 3 weeks now. Got 5 more weeks to go. I hope that it clears it up. Stuff is nothing to mess around with!!!!

Joking aside, with all the reports lately of flesh eating bacteria and crap like that I've gotten serious about cuts getting infected. Even if it's small/minor, it only takes a second to clean it with hydrogen peroxide and put some neosporin on it.

I cut my finger pretty deep about a month ago while I was doing yard work. Didn't have a first aid kit or anything so I put a piece of paper towel over it and taped it pretty tight with electrical tape and wore gloves the rest of the day. It probably should have been stitched up but I just kept cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and putting neosporin on it and it healed up pretty good. May not have been the "right" thing to do but seems to work pretty good for me.

Main thing is get it clean quick and keep it that way.

Better take care of it. I had a small cut on my elbow I don't know where I got it. It started to turn red, get hot, and hurt. Went to the doctor he sent a culture off and finds out it's MRSA. I have been on medicine and taking care of it for three weeks and it still hasn�t healed.
Some of the stuff you can get will kill you quick. I am lucky the doctor put me on the correct medicine to start with. I was reading on web MD this has a 20% fatality rate.

Y'all jinxed me. Read about the ingrown toenails on here last night, thought "I'm doing pretty good. Hadn't had one in awhile." Guess what I just worked on? It wasn't too bad. Just hope I got enough of it to fix it.

Got my first ever ingrown nail a few weeks ago hurts pretty good but once you rip the skin off of the nail the relief was instant

I had one years ago, on my big toe, during baseball season. Hurt like hell but I played several games with it. I'd take my cleat off after a game and the top of my sock would be soaked with blood and drainage. When I finally went to the Dr he used some type of acid to cauterize the skin on the side that was ingrown and then removed the ingrown part. That was, probably still to this day, the worst pain I've ever felt.

Not long after I got married, one of my fingers got so sore I couldn't sleep. Had to work half a day on a Saturday and my boss felt sorry for me and sent me home. Wife had seen one of the early Doc in a Box places. Went there, and saw an Indian doc. He felt my finger, recognized it was swollen and fevered. Xrayed it, asked me if I'd been bitten by some kind of insect or spider. I hadn't, living in South Carolina in the dead of winter. He finally surmised it was a bone infection. Said he'd give me prescription antibiotics and if it wasn't better within 48 hours I might lose the finger. Considering the pain, I told him I'd be back in 48 hours if it wasn't better. Ended up, the antibiotics worked and I've had no trouble with it since.

It feels like hot broken glass in your joints bc essentially that's what it is. Jagged hard crystals that form in the joint. The worst I've had it was in my ankle. No relief for 4 days. I slept sitting up on the couch with my foot in a chair. Miserable.
