Tough to tell, Shumard Oak maybe? Probably have to use some leaves from the parent tree to tell.

Turkey is right , overcup cap almost covers acorn. Can you find tree it came off of ? The trees bark will at least tell you if its white or red oak. If it was fresh to could open it and tell by insides. Some of the Timber cruisers here will know. good luck

It was a fairy large acorn it was hard to tell what tree it came from could not see any on them and it was at the bottom of a ridge so it could have washed down hill

looks like a northern red oak to me Pretty sure it's not a northern. They make a big acorn that looks more like a white oak. Some type of red oak for sure. Black oak or shumard probably.
