Very early to me in my area. The turtles are having a whale of a time at the pond. Hopefully get some preserves out of them.

No ripe ones on ours, either. Kinda weird.

Won't be able to check on BamBam's tree until this weekend.
I pruned all the fruit off of mine early in the Spring.

Well I had one run of Figs on my Celeste trees that were perfectly ripe when I got up there about 2 weeks ago.I put up 21 jars of preserves from them. There is another round unripe on the Celeste and just as many coming on the Brown Turkeys which appear to be later ripening.Yummy

Been wanting to plant a fig tree or two in my back yard. How do they do with low water availability?

They like water and fertilizer. My Grandmother had a tree where the washing machine drainage pipe was located and it was unreal. All mine are irrigated.

Got my first ripe ones today. About 10 of them. They weren't completely ripe but they got eaten just the same.

It took 8 days to happen but today the flood gates opened. My wife picked 2 Walmart sacks full this morning. I don't know if I've ever had so many figs at one time. I eat about a dozen a day. I'm thinking fig preserves this time.

My wife gave up on making good fig preserves. She would get tired and say they were done. It takes a LONG time to cook them off slow so they thicken up right.

For the last few days I've turned on the water hose and let it run at the base of our fig tree for about 15-20 minutes. Dunno if that helped or it was just time, but my main tree erupted this week in ripe figs. I probably picked a dozen off this evening and ate them right off the tree. The tree in my back yard that hasn't had as much water has scrawny unripe fruit.

Doggone, they're good, too.

Mine is starting to slow down. It has been a really good year for ours. I don't know how many jars of perserves my wife has put up, I think about 3 dozen. We've given sacks away , eaten a ton straight off the tree, and grilled several times. And still a bunch still on the tree, but smaller.
