Spray mid Sept and plant according to rain after that.

We plant the first week or second week of September. I don't hang stands until a day or two before the season on fresh sign.

I let the other members take over my hunting club this year. I just didn’t have time to track and run a hunting club too. Didn’t really want to do both either. All I have to deal with is my planting here at home now so I guess I’ll probably wait till late Sept before I do anything. I was gonna mow one time this summer to double crop the biomass but I believe now I’ll just let it grow unless we get a tropical system move through or some other major change in the weather pattern. Just too hot and dry this summer.

Sometime in September for my plots. The ladder stands are up. They always up. I always enjoy preseason and getting stuff ready. Got to do a little lane trimming. Bought some new boots couple weeks ago. Going to pick up some new broadheads (slick tricks I think), a pair of real thick socks, some 777 pellets and maybe another box of .308. Oh yeah and some new spray scent killer. And probably a new game camera. Dadgum. This is worse than a kids Christmas list!

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

Planted my first green field last year.. had seed in the dirt first weekend of september and. It was ankle deep come the opener. Plan to do the same thing this year Not to criticize, but having ankle deep food plots by the opener is not necessarily a good thing. It's no big secret that deer prefer young, tender shoots in food plots. One of the worst years we ever had was during an enormous acorn crop. The deer didn't hit the fields at all and they got well over ankle deep. By then, they didn't want it. They didn't hammer them at all until February, well after the season had gone out. Not everybody believes it, but I'll always believe that later planting is better. You want the plots coming up really good about the time the hard mast is getting eaten up. If I were planting my own plots, I'd wait til at least Oct 1st, but mainly plant around the weather forecast as others have suggested.

Mow end of August and burn it down with weed killer. Plant it on Labor Day.

I love it if I can get our plots ankle to half way up my shin by the opening of bow season. We plant about the second week of September and keep the deer out of them until a day or two before the season. This has proven to be the best tactic for us. Our deer hammer our plots regardless of the acorn crop. I don't believe in a rubber stamp, one size fits all for all properties.

I kind of went in blind last year when planting it. Researched and read up on preparing and planting but kind of over looked planting dates. I played the weather after I prepped it and that weekend was a good rain so I tilled and seeded just before it. They hit it good all year long. This was on Pine Mt, on the Blount/St Claire line...

ive been running cameras and checking them for about a month. I just got in a new stand yesterday that i am going to try and hang next weekend and move one of the others. Will check my cameras again. by then it will be 3 weeks since i have checked them and im more excited than a fat girl at the prom.
