Finally got soybeans in the ground a few weeks ago. Later than when most plant, but they did fine last year with a July plant date. Hoping to keep deer out from a portion of them before letting the fence down on one side a week or so before the youth weekend. Here is the setup: 1) Messina Wildlife Plotsaver starter kit (mainly for the 840-foot long ribbon - $40) 2) Fiberglass stakes from Tractor Supply ($1.29 each) 3) A double fence with one higher than the other to work against the deer's depth of field. Staggered by about 3 feet. 4) Milorganite ($13 per bag) 5) Most of the soybeans planted (another plot not shown) are not behind a fence, so I'm hoping the deer will stay on the beans they can get to easily rather than mess with the others. 6) Beans are a mixture of Eagle Seed Large Lad and some generic ag. bean. Both are roundup ready. A smaller and simpler version of this worked last year, but still keeping my fingers crossed.

Looks great and I'm anxious to see the results! One observation is that it doesn't appear to be the same circular plot you planted last year? Did you guys make a new field or is this on a different tract? Fingers crossed this field works out for your little man!
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

The other circular field has soybeans as well, but this field is better situated for a ground blind that can be hidden better.

Good luck with the fence. With the Large Lads if it just keeps them from annilating them you should be good. I fenced beans for the first time this year and the results were fantastic, but I used electric. They looked like this a cuopke of weeks ago when the fence came down.Large Lads planted first week of May.
