Should they be visible on the trees by now and if not, when?

Yes I can see some on my trees. Bad news is my hickory trees are dropping their nuts now due to drought. May be a real interesting year with nut trees,

Yes they're visible.

I found a loaded pear tree today. Gonna be interesting my first sit. This tree always produces my first sit if it has fruit.

depending where you live. Further south you go yes, further north maybe not quite yet. Also depends on type of oak tree.

Haven't checked acorns yet but much as Tigger said I checked a trusty old persimmon tree and much to my dismay they've already started dropping before they're ripe.

The few white oaks I've checked are loaded with small acorns.

I checked out some of the ones at the camp this weekend. Laurel oaks and swamp chestnuts are looking great so far. They are pretty loaded. Not so much on our white oaks. Overcup, water, and live oaks were loaded as well. I saw a few persimmons that had some fruit on em.

I just checked mine today. I'm praying it's still early. My swamp chestnuts were bare. I have about 30-40 of them and not an acorn on any. But the willow oaks, white oaks, and chinkapin oaks were bare as well. I'm in Scottsboro, anyone around me have any on these trees?

Ok now I'm concerned. Maybe I'm just blind but I can't find a single acorn anywhere around here, regardless of the type of oak tree it is. Do oak trees ever just take a year off?

Yes they do. Water oaks usually produce something every year. If you are having a bad year, try finding some water oaks. Some are bound to have something on em.

That's a good thing to me. Food plots will be eaten more and if u can find that one tree that has acorns on it......take vacation when it starts dropping!

Water oaks are loaded down as usual. They can usually be counted on to produce. The better producing sawtooths are loaded down as well.
