Wanting some tips or advice on picking out a good blind. I have a few places that one would work ideally and can be tucked into some brush. I'd like one that would be good to do any kind of hunting as far as gun/bow. Tell me what has worked good for you. Thanks.

I use wooden pallets tied to fence posts or trees. I find a good elevated spot with some brush behind me. I have gotten to the point now of where I enjoy hunting more from the ground than I do in a stand. I bring a really comfortable folding chair and I can sit longer and tend to see more deer.

Buddy of mine had one of those Primos blinds tucked under a hedge bush. It was invisible and was a sweet setup.

Every ground blind I've hunted out of, we built out of natural wood and vegetation in the area. Zero costs, and 100% blended in to the setting. If you're on private land, I'd do that, if not, good luck picking a blind.

Not a bad idea Kodiak. Yeah I'm on private club. I have a bad back so I have to stand up ever so often during a hunt. So a store bought blind with a tall ceiling or one like your talking about would be good.

We framed with large deadfall limbs and saplings and twine. After that, we just filled it in. Always made it a point to have brush poking up at different heights to not have a block shape. Probably didn't matter though. Lots of spots we hunted in Michigan were better hunted from the ground vs a tree stand just for better visibility.

If you go with a store bought one, I'd highly recommend a Primos Double Bull blind. My son and I used them turkey hunting in Nebraska. They are nice and comfortable for two people and you can stand up in one. Kind of pricey but well made and will last a long time.

I like toting a chair around with me. Gives me a lot of versatility when it comes to cover and positioning. Just sit in a clump of bushes and wait. Only bad thing about doing this is that the deer will sometimes walk right up on you. That can be aggravating.

It be's that way sometimes.

Killzone is the best brand I've found, but theyre increasingly harder to find.

see link below, check regularly, if available, buy all you can afford.

That's what I use. But I've had to prop the front of my blind up with a few sticks before if I was facing downhillany

i like to use a lightweight metal folding chair and the cut the legs off about 6 inches. with a shorter chair, i can brace my forward elbow on my knee for steadier shots. nice to stretch out my legs, too. and, you have a lower profile. you can glue closed cell foam pads to bottom and back for comfort.

I looked at that blind. Your right it looks like it is made really good. No doubt in my mind it would hold up for a long time but I just have a hard time spending $400 in a ground blind. I have a handful of Bass pro gift cards that I think im going to burn on a blind.

I have a 3 person ground blind that is 78" in the center. I suggest to get as big of one as you can find/afford.

I got it from Gander Mt. for around $200. I hunt it with my son some times. On cold days, I use a heater and the extra room makes it comfortable (hard to fit everything in a small blind and use a heater). Also, if you plan to bow hunt out of one, then you need a large one.

I've also bought from Kill Zone and they are very reasonable and pretty good blinds.

When on private land, I like to gun hunt road crossings. Usually, I'll find a bend in the road and put it there. I've tried "brushing" in the blind and I've just put them out without trying to conceal them at all. Can't really tell a difference once the deer get used to it. Even when it is "new", the deer will almost always stop and look which gives time to evaluate the deer.

What ever you get make sure it is at least a double, Bass pro has some nice ones for a couple hundred.

I second that. Mine is a double and I couldn't imagine carrying in my gear and chair into a single and I'm only 5'10", 170lbs.

Yeah im 6'1" so I need one with a ceiling that's pretty high. My son hunting with me some this year is also a reason for the need for a ground blind. I really appreciate the feedback on this. Planning on a trip to BPS Fri night.

Promos also makes a blind called the Club. It is less expensive and is made in two sizes. The Club xl is what you will need for bowhunting I believe. I'm 6'4" and can stand up inside of the xl. Easily fits 2 people in one also. I've got both sizes and have plenty of room in either for gun hunting. The :-) costs about 150 where I bought it.
