Which do you prefer? I'll be putting one or the other on my AR, but can't decide which I prefer.

Even with the VFG, I don't intend to use it like a pistol grip, but more like a hand-stop, with thumb still wrapped over the side/top of the handguard. I'm leaning toward one of the shorter VFG's like a magpul, but interested to hear what, if any, y'all prefer. Do you find one or the other more comfortable?

I prefer short vertical grips.
On my rifle I have have a short BCM grip that interfaces onto keymod.
Here's what I have http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-Vertical-Grip-Short-KeyMod-Black-p/bcm-vg-s-km-blk.htm

I use an AFG as a handstop on a pistol, as the VFG would make it an AOW, and it also places my fingers where I want them to operate my light. I don't really like the VFGs I've tried as they've snagged brush and beat my legs up when I let them fall on a sling. Others seem to prefer the VFG however. I'd say try both. You can always sell it later.

I was looking at the short magpul (above) as well as the short Tango Down vertical grips. really like the tango down since it has the removable end cap where you can store extra batteries if you have a light, or anything else relatively small...but it's 3x the price of the magpul so if I go with a vfg, I'll probably stick with it instead.

I prefer the VFG over the AFG. The AFG seems awkward to hold to me

If someone would just start making them out of wood, they'd be a lot less intimidating

I was just joking about that, but apparently it's been done. actually kinda cool looking.

No gangster grip for me. Gets in the way. Here's the situation... incoming fire has the right of way.

Throw it up on the barrier or low wall or stick it out the window of building/truck, stick it around the corner, etc. snagging on stuff in general. Meh... I don't like to stick my hands/arms out. Gets in the way to me unless it is mounted far back. Far enough back that the magazine well ain't a lot different on a carbine. They have their place though if you are all cluttered up with night vision, etc.

The good news is this... cardboard don't shoot back.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

This. I guess I shoulda said if I was gonna use one it would be the VFG. I place them so far to the rear they get in the way of opening the gun, so I just use the mag well too...

Neither. I don't like them. My 11 year old son has a vertical grip on his, but I know it is really because he thinks it looks cool.

I run a short bcm on a 15" rail and use it as a handstop also. It gives me an index point

I currently am running the vertical grip on a ddm4v5, but I just placed an order for the Magpul afg 1. I too would use it more as a hand stop and the vfg seems to make my hand feel awkwardly low when shooting.
