Good for you man. As of now Orange beach is still a good family place to take a vacation. My wife and I love it down there and go every year. Didnt get to go this year because of new baby but maybe this fall may get down there. Be patient in the traffic. Try to get over to Pensacola and see the Blue Angels and the museum. THISX1000 We went to the museum for the first time this year. Absolutely awesome!

Agree 100% AL beaches are 10x better than Myrtle Beach IMO. You'll like it. I'm not a beachy kinda guy but AL has beautiful beaches.

Just be careful ( everybody) I seen several traffic violations (folks running red lights) today, and I just drove down to the bayou to fish. I watched a van loaded down with several folks from Michigan, pull over in a turning lane then shoot straight through the damn red light smdh..

Do the speed limit on the beach express. I got busted doing 87 in a 55. Dude said he was gonna take me to jail. And we are still welding on the faris wheel so it is down at the Warf so dont get all upset that you came all the way down to ride it and couldn't I'm curious, did he say what he was going to take you to jail for? The only traffic offense that is jailable in Alabama is DUI. Do you know what an officer in Alabama does to a person going 100 MPH, with no DL, no insurance, no tag and no identification who says his name is John Smith...............he writes John Smith a ticket(s) and hopes that is his real name, which of course, it isn't. That is all he is really able to do. We are way behind on our traffic safety laws. Oh and by the way, you'll love Orange Beach, but you should have seen it 30 years ago. Very few, if any condos, just beach houses, a few restaurants, and the Flora-Bama. Make sure you have read the latest weekly Good Places to Eat in Orange Beach thread.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I'm glad I got to see orange beach before it was a tourist trap. We used to sit on our front porch in peace and quiet. BTW I have a gulf front lot for sale next to the island house hotel if there are any developers on here interested!

Along PC, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and such waaaaaay too crowded, commercialized and pricey for what you get. Just got back from St Augustine Beach, much better, less folks, less kids, more laid back and water much better. If you're from the Myrtle Beach area , you're prolly gonna be very disappointed.

Jawbone he said the opinions were go to jail or give me a ticket for reckless endangerment. After running my info and realized I was clean and just trying to get to work he let me go with a warning thank god. Blowing smoke up your ass. There is a Reckless Driving law, a citabale offense, that is to be used instead Reckless Endangerment, a jailable offense, except in only the most extreme cases. 80+ in a 55 isn't going to cut it as Reckless Endangerment. His options were, ticket for speeding, possibly aggravated speeding, ticket for Reckless Driving, which was pushing it hard and not likely to stick if challenged, or option three, let you go.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

You are going down at about the worst time to go. You will still have a good time if you don't mind crowds of people everywhere. Yeah, Bout 'bout like MB. Not my 1st or even 5th pick of time of year but I don't make the rules; I just do what I am told outside of hunting season.

From the little I have seen the beaches here are 1000x better than MB or the whole MB Grand Strand for that matter. Too many hotels, too much beach erosion, too many people, too much BS in MB.I moved to Maui in 95 from MB and it wasn't a minute too soon, if you ask me. I am tempted to move down here. Thank you all for your advice, comments, and kind words.

Went to jail once because my boss man gave me a pistol that turned out to be stolen. Boss felt real bad and bailed me out but still sucked.
